I have a 2003 gmc sierra. Been having problems with the brake either trying to stick or lock up. Not sure whats going on with it. I press the brakes when im getting ready to stop and then I accelerate and the abs light cuts on and the emergency parking brake cuts on and so I accelerate fast to try to get them to unstick and it kind of jerks and somethimes they unstick. I replace all my brakes and rotors and still does it.

My brakes are scrubbing and antilock light comes on, also when ever i back up, my front left wheel makes a very loud noise. kind of like rubbing metal. whats wrong?

the noise is probably the ware sensors on the brake pads making noise the noise lets you know that the brakes are getting thin are are ready to be replaced.if you let this go to long you can damage the brake rotors, make sure you check to make sure the caliper is not sticking on the left side being this side is making more noise ,a stuck caliper can cause premature brake pads ware .

My abs light is on and when I turn slightley to the right it sounds like my tire is scraping against metal what could that be.

Sounds like a Brake Pad or Brake Pads is worn out and metal is starting to scrape metal instead of Brake Pad. A Caliper sticking will wear one Brake Pad sooner than the other one. Check for grooves forming on the Brake Rotors.

When applying the breaks on my 2005 Chevy Cobalt it shutters and the abs light comes on .. what is the solution , do you think ?

Your brake calipers may be sticking to the brake rotor causing your abs sensor to come on. If it sticks to the rotor for an extended period of time, it could cause the caliper to actually weld itself to the rotor. I am assuming it is doing this in the front. If this is the case, you will need to replace both brake calipers, both rotors and a new set of brake pads. It is more economical to put the better parts back on it, if you can afford it.

I just replaced the rear brake pads on my 03 Silverado 1500. at first it drove fine, but Ive noticed lately that the rear (disk) brakes are dragging and causing excessive heat. There is a noticable shimmy...

Your calipers are sticking and causing your brakes to drag.Did you clean and lube the caliper slides before you reinstalled them and did you have the rotors turned?I have had this happen to me after doing a rear brake job.One or both of the calipers would stick and I had to replace them.Which means you will have to bleed the rear brakes.(Rear only)Hope this helps and let me know if you have anymore questions.Good luck.

Chevy Cavalier 2001 ABS Brake problem

You don't say what brakes.

I have had many cavys and worked on them. Great cars.

Your problem sounds like a **** rear wheel cylinder and bad drums/rotors and abs sensor wire.

My car just did everything you describe, I put in new wheel cylinders, drums, brakes, rotors, and 2 new rear brake lines. For less than 200 bucks the car is like new again and has well over 100k.

You can do it yourself. Doesn't take special tools. I followed online how-to's.

Wheel sticking on peugeot 406 on a p reg

The brake hose maybe bad replace it. They can claps on then self inside the hose. One work to check is have someone push the brake paddle down and release it if the rotor is hard to turn, open the bleeder vale if fluid comes out and the rotor turns freely that you problem.

Rear brakes way too hot. replaced the pads and very difficult to turn in, in fact had to releive pressure at the hose to get it to go in at all. Is it possible that the master is at fault? I don't want to...

it seems to me like they are rubbing all the time when in use this has got to be due to the pistons in the calapers are sticking once brake is applied, i've had the same problem but that was on my motorbike.
