Question about 2001 Dodge Intrepid
I have a 2001 dodge intrepid my check engine light came on and my speed ometer would not work and it will not shift out of lower gear its a automatic it has done this 3 time first time i let it sit for 2 days and it drove fine no problems stopped at my repair guy said it sounded like the speed sensors may drawled moistur keep driving it i did for 2 months then it did it again set for a couple of days ran fine took it back to my machanic he went on and replace sensors and incoming and out going the car did it again next day he put it on the computer his computer would not read problem to code
First thing I need to ask is when the filter & Fluid was last changed. If recently, Did they replace old fluid with ATF4 from Mopar/chrysler? Chrysler transmissions are very temperamental, especially with any other transmission fluid running in them, even though many mechanics, transmission places etc, may argue with me, it is a known fact. First, disconnect your + battery connection for a couple of minutes, then reconnect, and try that to see if it helps. If not, and fluid & filter haven't been changed in a while, I'd spend the money & have it done, but using only Mopar ATF4 from a Chrysler dealer.
