My son in law's 96 lincoln t/c has no hot air comming out vents. It looks like the vacumm controls work when you go full cold to full hot(it is all digital control) and the engine is warm. I noticed a sensor to the right of heater/a/c controls but not sure how to check it. We live in nebraska so heat is a must, it blew good cold air in summer. Could you give us a suggestion on where to start?

Thank you, the thermastat went bad on sunday( stuck closed and vented over) changed out on monday. No lks or play in water pump. No lks inside car or sweet smell(from antifreeze lk). Also no lks under car. Still no hot air from vents. The controls work fine through the range of operation, defrost to floor to vent ,etc. You can also hear the fan clutch engaging and disengaging as is normal operation. With his controls being digital not sure how to proceed.

Ok let's start at beginning. with engine running at operating temperature[at least 90 to 120 degrees] or if you don't have a digital engine temperature sensor, at least mid range, be careful and remove radiator cap, add anti-freeze until you see it flowing in the radiator, side to side or any motion also good. if it blows and blows out of the radiator extremely, you have another problem. wish i were there just to help. but you gotta do what you can. is there any fluid or a sweet smell inside the car or a leak under the dash onto the passenger side floorboard? if not, thats a really good thing! no bad heater core leaking into the car. make sure the radiators full!! with engine running, no explosive bubbling from the radiator? great. if so, bad. heater core bad or a bad radiator. thermostat been replaced anytime? in last year or so? maybe that bad. with engine OFF. NOT RUNNING,hood up,grab the engine fan, try to move up and down, fan only ok? if the fan has up and down play, any at all, water pump. leaks from under the car? at center of underneath the engine fan? look for a bad water pump. i know nebraska, brother lived there and alaska also. eeh? wish you the best and hope this helps you greatly! thank you for choosing fixya.com

96 Grand Am 2.4l A/C not equipped - Lots of cool air through vent. Almost no air to defrost. Blows hard to floor (great temp mix). Every vent setting? Mech just replaced heater core? What? Fine before

Looks like your mechanic messed up. If he has any integrity then he should take care of you. If not and you want to try and tackle it yourself then you have to ask yourself this: do I want to pull the dash out? Because that is what that will entail. Sounds like he may have messed up the ducting somehow. Unless the blend doors and directional doors are electric actuator operated in which case those actuators need to be replaced

AC has a New AC Compressor, plenty of Freon -it works but, only Hot Air blows through the vents ??? Is this the vaccum hose or the Heater Control Valve?

Check the heater control valve. And verify if there's hot air w/o A/C (fresh air with heat setting to cold)

Heater blows cold air .with selector set to warm.

Check to make sure you hear a mild thump when you switch from cold to hot. Turn the fan down so you can hear. If not, look for a small vacumm hose in the engine compartment by the heater hoses coming from the firewall. This feeds the switch that moves the heaterdoor. It works off of vacumm. If the door is working, you may need to bleed the coolant going into the engine. There should be a small square plug on top of the thermostat housing. This lets air out of the engine as you fill it with antfreeze. Take this out or the housing off and then make sure it is full.

Air conditioning not working. Blowing cool air in the back and hot air in the front.

Is there air blowing from the front vents? or can you hear the vacumm change when you change it from heat to cool..... I think it might be a vacumm problem... its a 1997 so the controller vacumm hoses may be cracking.. let us know

Dual Temperature controls inside - 2002 lincoln ls

The problem is most likely a bad dual climate control valve. This component is located on the right side near the radiator under the hood. It will have several coolant hoses hooked to it and 2 silver cylinders protruding from it. You can clamp off the heater hoses at the heater core and see if both sides cool then and this will tell you that the valve is letting coolant thru when it shouldn't be.

This will narrow it down to either the valve or the control head inside the car,or wiring in between them. The only way to narrow it down further is if you have a scan tool that could access the climate control data. Have seen several of these valves cause this concern and have only seen one control head cause it.
