Havin problem with manual trans

I am havin problems with my transmission going into reverse. its a 1992 c2500 and its a manual transmission.It works great when you first run it then it gets hard to shift into reverse and first gears.

Reverse and ticking

reverse is most often the first gear to go out in an automatic transmission. I strongly suggest you take it to a shop before the problem gets worse (increasing the repair cost greatly)

4l80e trans won't go in reverse

Check your linkage at the column and on the transmission to make sure nothing is messed up there. Check your fluid to make sure it is at the proper level and to see if it is dark or smells burnt. It should be a nice reddish pink color. There are shift solenoids for the forward gears that fail but I don't think there is one for reverse. You can remove your transmission oil pan and inspect it for broken parts and excessive sediment in the pan and look at the condition of the filter. It will be a messy job so be preparred. If your linkage appears to be fine and fluid level full, I suspect that you have some internal tranmission issues going on and will probably need a new transmission. If you end up buying a new transmission I recommend buying an AC Delco remanned as they have a good warranty and I've had good luck with them.

you don't need a fluid actually, you need a gear oil. Gear oil is for maual transission and also for the differencials. Go to any auto parts store and ask or just buy gear oil, that container should be included with the pump, so that more easier for you to fill it. Ok. f

Dashbord Display shows--Trans Program -See Owners Manual

My car starts fine. Goes into reverse drive but starts off in 3rd so if anyone knows whats going on here let me no my e-mail is also my dash displays break light circuit.

Blazer wont reverse

I had the same problem with my 1992 ford bronco 4 wheel drive and what i finally had to do was rebuild the transmission. check your linkage cable to your transmission. it may only be that.

Transaxle wont shift into reverse it tries to go in but it sounds like it wont fully engage and the gears are grinding

sounds like a trans problem(internal problem) the trans should be removed and the case opened up to inspect the reverse selector and gear assembly...while its apart, may as well inspect the entire transmission internal parts,, gears , syncronizers , etc... even may as well have the clutch replaced since the trans will be some money on labor

1991 Acura Integra will not drive in reverse

I have the same problem in my 1991 Integra LS Sedan Automatic, when i put it in reverse it makes a grinding noise and won't engage...i've been told the "reverse fork" or something is probably bent which can be common from rocking a car from "D" to "R" to get unstuck from mud or snow and to fix this the tranny needs to be taken apart and fixed, or if any cheaper then replace the transmission. Could also do an auto to manual trans conversion, but those are the only options. Fixing the specific reverse problem would be cheaper than rebuilding the whole trans which a lot of ppl say is the solution
