I would let the mechanic solve it - but since you're here....
Check fuel cut off solenoid for correct operation,
Check fuel pump
Check supply to fuel pump
Check immobiliser operation
As the ECU decides when the fuel gets injected -
Check temperature sensors
Check TDC crank sensor
Check O2 sensor
Check throttle sensors
Check MAP sensor

If you cannot do these, or don't have a OBD2 diagnostic tool..... Take it to the mechanic.

Check oil pressure with mechanical gauge. Listen with hose to bottom end. Sounds as if you have bad/spun engine bearing.

Make sure there is no vacum leak on the engine. Also, I had the same issue because of a crack in the rubber intake hose. Idled real low. would shut off when you come to a stop.

I was driving on highway in my 2000 nissan maxima when all of a sudden i can't get no gas so i pull over and now the car won't start. Please help???

Does it show fuel on the gauge? The fuel pump is in the tank, and difficult to hear, but it will after you crank the engine for a few seconds... Does it crank different than before... you may have lost a timing belt if you have a v-6,

YOU MAY HAVE SOME CONTAMINANTS IN YOUR FUEL TANK. HAVE A QUALIFIED PERSON TAKE A SAMPLE OF YOUR FUEL. IF THAT CHECKS OUT OK, THEN TRY REPLACING THE FUEL FILTER. I HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK
