Question about 1990 Toyota Corolla

Open Question

Idle ratle When my toyota is idling in gear there is a ratle that sounds like its coming from the engine. In park and neutral it seems to go away. Is this a major problem and is there an easy solution. I love the car but it has reached its limit for costly repairs. The engine sounds great when you drive it but ratles like crazy when stopped. Thanks for your help. Tom

It developed a noise like a can full of rocks slowly rolling
It only did it in neutral or park with engine running.
Putting in gear would stop it.
Turned out to be a loose filter element in the transmission.
At least that's what I was told by my mechanic.
Solved the noise though

Jeep 360 rattle sound at idle in park

it could be a wrist pin, and im not sure if those amc's had hydraulic lifters but sometimes with old lifters when the oil pressure is lower at an idle the lifters arnt filling up all the way so they develope a little valve lash, and when the rpms are raised the oil pressure raises and fills the lifters. you could try chasing the noise down with an automotive stethoscope.

I have a 2.2L 1995 camry. It starts and runs normally and then after 1 minute the engine management system light comes on and it runs very roughly under acceleration and all forward gears and in reverse....

it sounds that runs rough under load (in gear)
a sesor on the crank or camshaft may be playing up and upsetting the ignition timing
take it to the dealer and have them plug into it and diagnose what the light is on for

most likely it is an exhaust heat shield. block the wheels, set the parking brake and put it in gear so it makes the noise. now get out and go down the exhaust system and press against each shield to see if the noise goes away. when you find the culpret rip it off and you are done.

Sounds like a vacuum problem with the transmission. Modulator maybe?
Take it to an auto trans specialist.
