Question about 1991 Buick Park Avenue

1 Answer

A/C problem I have the dual climate control head on my car. After recharge (134a).I could not engage the a/c on the control head.Talked to a buick dealer and he said to disconnect battery for 30 secs. This resets the programmer and the a/c pumped cold air really good..then it automatically switched from auto (a.c) to economy.I disconnected the battery again and I could engage the a/c (auto button) and everthing was fine ...but it swiched back to economy again.Do I need a new programmer??? thanks a lot for any advice Al

The control on the dashboard is working, blower is blowing but AC clutch won't engage. I checked the AC relay and it is not getting 12V at all. Checked fusible links, fuses-O.K. Can't locate the relay center described in the manual where it doesn't tell where to go for it. Only one relay (AC relay) on the fire wall in the middle.

You need to check the freon to see if you have a leak.

1995 Buick Climate Controls Going Crazy

Same thing happened with my 95 park avenue a few weeks ago. I talked to a guy I know who is a GM mechanic and he says that the module (the thing on the dash with all the buttons and the temperature display) is broken and needed to be replaced. These computer modules just get funny with age and eventually have to be replaced. You can find one pretty easy on ebay motors. It's not hard to replace, you just have to take apart the dash and take out the old module and put the new one in. Hope this helps!

Looking for port to recharge air conditioner. Just want to recharge 134 refrigerant non climate control 3.0 engine

The low side port (the smaller one) is by the right hand strut tower, should be right by the washer fluid hose. Heads up on those do-it-yourself cans of r-134a; it is unknown how much refigerant is in your car now, and most of those cans do not have pag oil in them, and if they do, how much in them, and how much hasn;t leaked out of the car. Overcharging the car with an improper amount of oil can cause premature compressor failure. If you plan on keeping the car for a few more years, I recommend spending the extra cash to have the leak repaired and recovered, evacuated and recharged properly.

1991 Buick Park Ave. climate control stopped working. Replaced electronic (dual zone) climate control module, unhooked negative battery cable to reset module and climate control worked for appx. 3 weeks,...

Check to make sure that you have enought freon to engage the compressor, then you will need a flow chart to take you through the rest of the steps necessary to diagnos this problem. The Electrical system manual for Buick is the only one that will have the proper information for you to walk through the steps to dead head it. There is a HVAC programer that is behind the floor heater duck work. It has a numbering system that goes from (2) rows of pins that go 1-16 for terminals. On terminal 5-7 with ignition in run position, you need bat. votage. Terminal 10 & 11 you need 4-5 volts. Neither 10 or 11 should be unplugged just yet since 10 feeds 11 pin. If there isn't any voltage at these pins, check for corrosion on the pins theirself, or for the pin that it may have slipped back out of the connector. Good luck.

93 Buick LeSabre with nonresponsive climate control buttons

this system has self testing capabilities, have any GM dealer test it for codes and proper function, If I had to guess I would say the climate control head is defective.
