Auto transmission problem

When "drive" is selected will not change out of first gear, stays in first no matter how high you rev. Have checked gearbox oil level (in park at idling speed ) - seems ok. Have read previous solution ( to similar problem) as being throttle position sensor, could it be same problem, if so, exactly where is sensor located and is it possible to check it for defects, if so how?

Thanks Mike.

I had a similiar problem. The D4 indicator light stays on. I changed the transmission computer and it solved my problem. The computer is located in the floor underneath the dash on the passenger side.

Merc clk 1999 fault

on most cars, you need to change the neutral safety switch. this car has a neutral parking position sensor, you can find it for v6 not v8, it also fits a saab 9-3. it is the same thing, a different style. however, check the transmission fluid level and troublecodes for p07xxs. reset the code and use the transmission dipstick by dorman add lucas auto trans fluid, not stop slip to the fill line. most of the time it's not the solenoid, but the auto trans plate, overfilling the fluid can cause it to trigger a check engine light, and the fluid leaking onto it can cause it to be permanently damaged, it's more than $400 for the part. lucas works in the 722.xx transmissions, most , all, clks 99-2002, just make sure the tranny model isn't a 238. i like it better than atf 134. However, these parts are very heat sensitive. fill the trans fluid, reset the troublecodes, do a general motos drive cycle from obdii.com if it doesn't drive good after four times, change the neutral safety switch. :)

I change my transmission in 1997 honda civic freio I change the cvt to a manual transmission andengine check light stay on what could cause that to happen

Check engine lights report faults in engine AND gear box(auto). If you have changed from an auto to manual gear box then the sensor system for the gearbox is recording a massive fault with the gearbox that you have to check out. Talk wit an accredited auto electrician as to how to neutralise the system so that the light only checks out the engine.

Audi A4 2.4 Auto. Driving between 1000 and 2000rmp it feels like the gears are slipping, but also the revs just blip up a notch and down again, but above 2000rmp no problem at all changing gears and

The problem is in the transmission . Run the fault codes to check for faulty TCM or servo's and solenoids. Have a pressure test done on the transmission to check for internal leaks. Remove the pan and check filter condition and while the pan is off have the bands and clutch pack adjustment checked

Automatic Transmition Shifting Problem when Engine is cold

The auto was notorious for clutch pack failure. Tolerances were tight in the inner workings and this caused inadequate oil flow and poor cooling. Sooner or later the auto transmissions fail. You could have the transmission rebuilt but that will cost a bit to do it so it wont break again. I might recomend going back to honda atf and changing the fluid again. If that does not work try an additive oil for the transmission. I had some sucess with the recomend product.

last resort, have it swapped to a manual transmission. This is a cheap alternative as f series transmissions from the accord can bolt up to the h22 and can be found cheap at the expense of higher gear ratios.

My Hyundai Santa fee 2003 2.7L stays in D and does not change gears as I excelerated . Climbing a hill it goes up slow as the gear remains in D position .

As you travel down the road does it shift in other gear speed of just stays in that one gear and revs high.Check the fluid condition. Santa Fe uses a VSS to change gear as the RPM increases As you put the vehicle in drive it should gear select for you. The reason I want you to check fluid condition is to make sure the transmission has not failed. The fluid should not be dark like getting black.

Acutally there is 3 position settings for the transmission selector, the power setting which changes the shift points higher ,more rpm's, center position basic auto selection the transmission selects the best driving gears based on your habits, and the comfort mode which shifts the transmission easily and smoothly, no high rev shifts, best for good fuel mileage, but if you need to get on it it will go.

Mazda Sentia 929 auto failure

Rebuilt gearbox probably... unfortunately!
If the HOLD light in the in strument cluster is flashing at you, it is giving you a transmission diagnostic code (like a kind of Morse Code). A transmission specialist or a Mazda Dealer will be able to read this code and plug their computer into the cars computer, and tell you what is wrong.
