Suburban thanks pyropc.... once ive done this prsumably i can run up the car to the ses light appears pull over, short 1+2 pins, and that will be the new error code for the correct fault?? Just out of curiosity, you dont have any ideas, basically it was coming on at 55.... i gave the truck a full service and it was ok to 60, i then flushed the system with diesel cleaner incase it was bad fuel/build up of ****.... it went to 65. Just replaced the water sensors as they were broken and its now at 70/80 under hard exceloration. Ive noticed that just before it comes on (30 secs or so) overdrive will cut out and i will (although overdrive selected) be driving in drive!! Any ideas??

Hi ya, Thanks for everything last night.

I have done what you suggested and took it on a good drive along the motorway. I have codes 68 - transmition component slipping and 78 - waste gate solenoid fault ......

I am going out now to speak to a local dealer about a new solenoid for it......

I had other fault codes come up before but by replacing the water switches that were faulty it seems to have rectofied them.

I also have a excelorator service soon light on, i will get this done and doubt if this will make a differance but thought i would mention it.

Do you think it is the overdrive failing, the torc converter slipping or something else?!?!

As i said it only happens at about 60/70mph under load and overdrive seems to switch off, it holds with the revs at aprox 3000rpm and then 'ping' on comes the light!!

    Many thanks,

I look forward to your reply!!

    Phil

Good Day,

If I were you I would clear all the codes, then drive around until your SES comes on. Instead of shorting pins take it to an autozone(they do it for free) or shop that has an OBD2 reader, they can read your code and tell you exactly what sensors are causing this problem. I can cross refrence codes for you aswell if they only provide you with the code number.

hope this helps again

No service engine soon light olsmobile

Go to Autozone.com and register your vehicle for free. Once you do, you can get free wiring and fusebox diagrams for your car.

Then check the Relays for the ignition. You may be able to switch the horn relay for the important relay to test the car. Just note the numbers on the Relays to match them.

Check the Ignition switch, and fuseable link. The SES system like the rest, require power.

1997 Chevrolet Suburban Check engine light soon is on

a Scan Tool will read your codes. even if the light is off it puts codes in history so they still can be pulled up for diagnostics. I would start there, You can get it done for free at AutoZone,CarQuest etc.

Heater core out of a GMC Suburban 1997 how difficult for a DIYer and how expensive to have done. Thanks

It's a pretty big job you have to pull the steering wheel diable the airbag and pull out the entire dash. the heater core itself shpuld cost from 100-200 dollars but labor will run you about 500-800 dollars. good luck.

2001 Suburban ABS motor staying on after ignition is off

what you have is a ABS module that has shorted out internally. you have to replace that module and then bleed the ABS pump AND the brakes at all wheels.

Mine does the same thing as far as shutting down on long trips---usually 1 1/2 - 2 hours. I don't think it's overheating....it's got something to do with antitheft system

Obd reset

Easiset way to reset the OBD is to remove the negative battery terminal, leave disconnected for a few moments then re-connect and all codes will be cleared.

Hope this helps
