Hi Kiwimarc69,
the service interval of your camblet is 100000kms. make sure you do the cam and crank seals as well when you get your cambelt replaced.
I would also suggest having a good look at the water pump as well cause sometimes they can show a little leak down the small exaut hole on the water pump housing.
Cheers

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

What gets done at 60 000 service intervals for petrol engines

This is best answered by the service schedule of the car. Any car of the same make around the year of manufacture will have the same schedule. IF it is miles you are referring to then items like cam belt change, auto oil change, brake fluid change, coolant change brake rotor check, cv joints would most likely be on the schedule as 60.000 miles is a big service.

How to check if cam belt worn or still good.

You will get no warning and physically checking it will tell you nothing unless there is obvious damage. Don't risk it, change when the manufacturers says normally around 80 000km intervals and even less if the cambelt has been changed before

When does the timing belt need to be replaced on the 2.4 lt 2006 lancer

Normally the engine check light will come on (the light on the dash) when you see this your vehicle is ready to be serviced. Depending on the model there are specific time frames or milage set. Check your manual for details..

Timing mark for timing belt

Best to go into a Mitsi dealer and take a photocopy of the timing belt replacement instructions. I would be very concerned that there may be internal engine damage if the cambelt has broken, such as bent valves or piston damage. It's highly unlikely that the cam will stop in the right position with all the valves almost closed when the belt breaks, but I have heard of it from time to time.
Hope this helps, Mark.
