2001 Hyundai Accent turns on but will not start

Hi, My 2001 Hyundai Accent sometimes turns on but will not start only after about half hour. Same, sometimes stalls while running and again it will turn on but will not start for about half hour. What is the problem?
Thanks,
Chris

Thank you very much for your answer.

I would say that it happens when the engine is hot.
First time my wife started the engine moved the car into a different spot and after a few minutes it was cranking but won't fire up. It just started to rain. I checked for spark but there wasn't any. I checked fuses, wires, etc but nothing helped. After half hour it fired up again and run as usual. 2nd time I stopped at the bank, it was raining again and it won't fire up again, only cranking. So almost naturally I thought that moisture got in somewhere. But 3rd it was sunny and just stalled at a stop sign. Again cranking but won't fire up. 4th time at gas station, I filled it up and did the same: cranking but not firing up. After maybe 15-20 minutes it fired up but stalled when trying to move on. Did this for 5 minutes and after that if fired up, I kept it on higher rev for as long I could and did not stall again.

I went to the dealership and they told me the same: probably CKP. They also told me about ECT too.

I checked the net for the same problem and it worries me that some guys did change CKP and other stuf and they still have the same problem.

I will probably change the CKP ($116 at the dealership) and will wait to see.

Is there any way to check if indeed the CKP is faulty? The dealership said no.
What about ECT, can I check it if it is faulty? And how to check for lose fuel presure? I would like to rule out what is not faulty because I can't afford to spend money on unnecessary parts.

    Thanks a lot.

There is 2 sensors on your car and the TOP sensor is prbobobly not the problem, most people get the cam sensor and put it on the top of the motor, Wrong! its shorter because it goes on the bottom side of the motor, if you have replaced the wrong sensor on the top its going to tell you PO343 that is timing belt, you need to put the top sensor the original back into the car get the replacement, its shorter because it goes across from the radiatoir to the right of the exuast maniford shield, it has been put there too close by the manufacure, so its buring up upens up when hot. CAR has 2 similar sensors, you need to replace the lower sensor

    hi
    that is very helpful explaining
I have the same type ( Hyundai accent 2001 )
so I think again it is faulty of (CKP) sensor but you can test it by using (AVO) METER in resistance measurement range it was electromagnetic sensor have a coil and magnetic core when the engine running the sensor generate electrical signal depending of engine speed
because of the sensor is not fully faulty??? it is fault when warm up only !!!! there is no way to test this case ?
so there is one way to fix it only by change ???

but abut (ECT) it was a electrical thermo resistor have tow wire
    the 1st is a ground
the 2nd is 5 volt when disconnected
the 5 volt drop down when connect the (ECT) depending of increase engine temperature
you can test it by using (AVO) METER in 20 DC VOLT measuring range

I hope to helping you & l"am ready to make help at any time

99 hyundai accent starts sometimes. not battery

ok when the check engine light comes on that usually indicates a engine malfunction...what you can do is go to your local autozone and they can do an OBDII test for free..my bet says it is the cam or crank sensor.. DO NOT SHUT THE CAR OFF AT AUTOZONE..LOL

Replace what, the car or the transmission? Tranny will run about $1000 on Ebay, labor depends on the shop but figure $85-90 an hour. for an 8 hour job.
