Does the engine run bad or does it just not shift correctly, or both? Your throttle valve cable may be in need of adjustment since you had to remove it to do that intake gasket. look at the cables on your engine, the one that leads to the tranny is the one were looking at. Now look at the cable where it mounts to the engine, there will be a small metal button on the cable.Push that button down real hard and pull the cable housing away from the mount where it clips in until you hear it back out. DONT PULL TOO HARD YOU MAY PULL IT APART. Now stay under the hood and manually give the full throttle and watch as the tv cable gets tight and finds its seat. It will make clicking noises as it extendsuntil the throttle is fully depressed. Now your throttle valve cable is set. hope the helps ya find the right gear

If your have the newer style dist where the ign wire come out on both side of the cap. to check timing you need to get a scanner .there is no timing bypass wire. dist has a cam sensor in it. the spec I think was 6 degs. also check fuel pressure and make sure it holds pressure. if ok change the fuel filter. hope this helps

Hello Joey325,
Look under the hood on the fire wall behind the engine there is a black cover with 3 tall black what look like nuts. remove them and you will see a relay center, now there should be a brown wire marked timing may be not marked but pretty sure its brown just unplug it and go from there. I sure hopes that gets you going and thanks for using

1997 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 p0758 Won't shift

P0758 code is shift solenoid B electrical /2-3 shift solenoid circuit electrical, It better to inspect the wire going into the transmission they have a tendency to leak transmission fluid into the circuit make inspection for proper connection if you decide to replace the solenoid you still need to inspect the circuit for proper mating. If this solenoid fails and you wait to long to replace it you can loose the ECM due to the high power draw it takes from the ECM.

You will have to locate the wire that controls your advanced timing. I know on a 94 S 10 it is located under the hood on the passanger side fire wall under the cover located there. It should be a brown wire. Unplug it and then you can use your lite.
