Question about 2001 Honda Civic

1 Answer

Wiring problem? I installed an aftermarket radio into my 2001 Civic LX, after doing so I was having some issues. I blew my 7.5 amp fuse twice and my radio would not turn on. After testing all the wiring I came to find that the yellow wire (the constant wire) was not providing power at all. (this was tested with a volt meter) So my problem right now is I tested the wiring of the harness (not the one that came with the radio but the one harness to connect from the car to my radio harness) I realized that it was not the radio wire but the contant coming from the car. Also after struggling with all this my power door locks do not work after my car in turned off as well as my dome light that should come on with every door opening. So now I have no constant power to store memory in my radio, no power door locks and no dome light. Is there a fuse that I might be missing that could be blown ( checked all the fuses under my steering wheel but not under the hood yet). What could I possibly have missed in this. Also after I checked all the fuses under my steering wheel my SRS light and check engine light came on. I know that sometimes when you pull fuses out and put them back, it causes the lights to come on. ( I only know this by having it happen prior in a different vehicle). What should I be looking for and/or doing?????

I have the exact same problem. I just got a 2001 LX from a family member. Everything worked great except the tape deck. My niece dropped coins into the mechanism before I picked it up form my sister. I bought a tool to pull the coins out. I actually got enough out where it worked, but continued to get a few remaining coins. I must have hit a wire inside the radio as it is now completely dead.

After this happened, I noticed that the interior light no longer works when set to the middle position and the car is off. It only turns on when the car is on. It no longer automatically turns on when you unlock the car, nor does it stay on and dim after you turn the car off. The power locks are also acting stange. They also only work when the car is on. Did you ever figure out your problem?

Power door locks, radio, power trunk lock and remote not working

unfortunately i can only fix the "alternator wine": all you need is a ground loop isolator. it hooks up to your RCA cables in between the radio and amp. the only thing i can think for your other problems is fuses, unless somehow your factory radio controls those functions

No key on radio power

There are 3 wires that deal with power on a aftermarket radio (Red is the wire that makes the stereo turn on with the key) (Yellow is constant power it is to keep your clock set and your presets of your radio stations ) and the black is the ground.

Radio fuse blow on start up 1991 honda accord wagon

I've had this same problem many times and it is usually due to a power wire touching metal grounding itself out you should check the harness and maybe the wiring before and after the harness, I'm sure you will find an open wire or cut some where try that.

If the radio is aftermarket, they cross the circuitry of the antenna near the defroster, causing static in the antenna everytime you turn it on. Disassemble the radio and check for the wiring. Worst case scenario: they used the Positive wiring for the defogger switch and connected a wire to the radio's ACC cable.
