Question about 2003 Ford Ranger Regular Cab

A/C will not turn off

2003 Ford Ranger 4.0 liter. Air conditioner is working even though the dashboard switch is set to vent. Checked relay 47A in main power box under hood. Had a little carbon dust inside of relay cover, but relay seems to be okay. The contacts are not fused.

You need to replace the controll station this is a common problem on the ranger the controller seems to send a signal to turn on the air con compressor go to the scrap yard and get the correct controll panel and replace it alot cheaper than the oem unit from the dealer at 195.00 here in canada so give that a shot or wire switch direct to the 12 volt compressor clutch wires alot cheaper good luck waiting to hear more re issue

2003 dodge ram quad cab 5.7 hemi. a/c and heater vents won't open or close all the way. when set to 'dashboard only' on the control, it barely blows any air through the vents even though the fan is on...

All your vents are controlled by two things. one of course is the dash swicth. when you turn the switch to the psition you want it at in pulls vacumm to a diaghram that opens the blow door for the setting you chose. In my years of fixing these its usually has been a broken vacumm line under the hood.start the vehicle and listen for a hising noise or like an air leak ;follow the vacumm lines that are visible. the other problem could be a bad switch element and dodges are notorious for these.hope this helps

Air conditioning and heating problem

The blend door actuator is vacuum driven. It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Trace the vacuum lines starting at the firewall in front of the passenger side. With the heater or AC on HIGH and directed at the front vents, listen for a leak or trace the vacuum line back ward to try to find a leak. All the best.

The compressor and fan don't come on when the air conditioner is turned on and hot air comes through the vents. However, when the relays are removed and a test wire is inserted into the relay port, th

Sounds like a bad heater control unit, or bad control module. You are bypassing the switch when you jump the relays, so usaully the switching mechanism is suspect.
