Where is the clutch auto adjustment located at on a 98 manual Volkswagen jetta?

you most likely have a hydraulic clutch, which the clutch master cylinder is located on the firewall on the driverside close to your drivers side windsheild.it takes brake fluid to fill dot brake fluid will fill it properly. however if your slave cylinder on the transmission is leaking, this will require a replacement of the clutch slave cylinder. look for leakage under passenger side,,just under or below passenger side seat onto ground. recommend if you replace the clutch slave cylinder, you also replace clutch master cylinder located on the drivers side firewall at wind sheild.look under the car while someone pumps the clutch in and out,if you see brake fluid leaking under car onto ground or inside onto carpet at brake pedal, you have a bad clutch master cylinder. recommend you replace both slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder. this will save you lots of time and headaches. thank you for choosing fixya.com

I have reverse but no drive has a whinnig sound when cold 2001 ford escape v6 4wd

have you checked your transmission fluid on the dipstick under the hood? if so,then it should be full. look at the dipstick carefully to see the full level make sure if have to add fluid to the transmission that it is fomoco transmission fluid.if you have any doubt about the product, get a sales tech to show you which fluid you need for a ford transmission.there is a difference in the fluid.the whining sound you hear is from the transmission, you may have a leak.check where the vehicles parked for fluid on the ground,it will be red in color.if you do not see red fluid on the ground and the transmission is full of fluid, please repost your question with all the above information, such as full of fluid and reverse only. you may have a leak, which if fluids on the ground will tell you that much.but if it's full of fluid, then that's a different issue altogether.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com.

I have no power steering and I see a puddle of red liquid on the ground.

Hi,

That red puddle is the fluid that leaks out from your power steering.

There are some possible leakage, it maybe in your powwr steering hose, pump, and rack and pinion.

The only way you could determine where the leakage is to have your car checked by a technician/mechanic.

Try to put some haydraulic fluid in the power steering conatiner, so that you could go to the garage and have them fix it.

Smell and fluid leakage under engine

Alright, anitfreeze is going to be typically green or orange in color and tranny fluid is going to be Red. Oil is the only dark fluid in your motor. But you say it smells like gas or burning making me wonder if it is your oil or not?

I have a leak coming from under my hood

2 ways to check what it is: 1st, check all fluid levels to see what is low. 2nd, if it's clear, it is your a/c condensation vent tube (normal to drip on the ground), green is coolant, red or pink would be trans. fluid, or power steering fluid, tan, or brownish would be oil or brake fluid, blue would be windshield washer fluid. So, check all the above fluid levels to see what is low, then using a white rag or paper towel, dab the ground where the leak is dripping to determine the color. Let me know what you find.

Transmission slipping

once it slips that is the end, the trans direct clutch opack is worn out and the trans must be overhauled.

Request

If the color is red then it is transmission fluid and if the color is brownish/black then it is probably motor oil. To find out where the leak is coming from: Clean the bottom of the car with a hose. Drive around for a bit then come back park it and see where the fluid is coming from. Then post back what you see.
