I believe that the solenoid that controls the overdrive is accessable from the transmission pan area. The solenoids that control the shifting are located in the side. The 4t65e transaxle has been known to have problems with overdrive for more than one reason though, so start with that solenoid. If that doesn't work, you may have luck with a shift kit. My car used to shift rapidly in and out of overdrive, after I installed a shift kit, I have had no further issues. I used the '4t65e sk' kit from TransGO.

I tiredon the running around asking question about overdrive blinking right after it shift from second to third gear thats were the problem starts overdrive blinking the rest the gear work perfectly

It is safe, and even recommended to use "Drive" and dis-engage the "Overdrive" when driving in the city, and definitely when towing...You can work on the problem by changing tranny fluid, and filter...or look into the Lucas Oil Transmission Stabilizer bottle treatment...Hope this helps.

Why will my 94 Buick Regal run fine in 2nd and 3rd gear but not when I shift into overdrive?

You are lugging the engine. Overdrive is only for use in top gear when you get to cruising speed to reduce the engine speed.

1994 Buick Custom Regal 3.8L I changed ****** Filter and fresh fluid in it will go fine Thanks. But now at 60 mph rpm is 3,900.Maybe the overdrive is out? Any suggestion. Thanks.

Just having overdrive out would make it rev that high. It sounds like ur stuck in maybe 2nd gear. Did you add to much trans fluid possibly?

2001 Kia Sephia automatic trans seems to be stuck in second gear, when manually shifted into first, starts off perfectly fine. When in drive, very sluggish on the take-off and does not shift out of the...

Alot of people have the same problem, including me. Changing the transmission fluid is not going to help this problem. THe transmission filter is not something you change as much as you clean and reinstall, its just a metal screen. Call Kia and ask for an "OVERDRIVE SHIFT SOLENOID" they will need the last 8 digits of your VIN, vehicle identification number, to locate your part. I am in the process of changing mine. The part number should be something like 46313-39051. That number is for a 2001 Kia Optima, with the 4 cylinder. There are three shift solenoids bolted to the bottom of your transmission should. I'll let you know what the difficulty level when I am finished.

Transmission wont go into overdrive on my 01 beetle, if you shift it manual it shifts hard into 3rd gear, every light on the dash is on. are all these problems related?

Try tuning the transmission by changing the fluid, filter and pan gasket. You might have to do it twice but in a few cases with newer vw beetles I have noticed a pattern of bad transmissions

2003 BUICK REGAL TRANSMISSION PROBLEM.

This is a common problem on some GM cars. There is a pressure control valve in the side cover of the transmission that needs to be replaced. The transmission does not have to be rebuilt. You will need to get a side cover gasket also.
