Brake lights will not go off on 1989 buick regal custom

This is usually caused by a sticky brake light switch. It's located under the dash where the brake lever can push against it. It's usually round and if you push the brake pedal towards the floor, you will see the lever touch the switch. Clean or replace the switch and the problem should go away.

1989 buick regal custom 2.8L starts and runs fine cold. stop and let it set over ten minutes, and it won't start again until it cools down...2 hours. Replaced crank sensor, still happens. No cam sensor...

If I remember correctly (and I admit that my memory isn't what it used to be), the steel fuel from the fuel pump to the carburetor runs up and over the front of the engine. If you live in a warm climate, you ma have fuel percolating in that line after the engine heats up. If that is the correct routing of the fuel supply line, try wrapping the upper portion of the steel line with some small pipe insulation, and see what happens. If that doesn't help, post back and I'll search the memory banks some more. Good luck.

I just bought my 2004 buick lesabre and I already need new brake pads. I dont know whether I should get med grade pads or (high grade)ceramic pads. If I get the high grade would I special rotors?

You can use your stock rotors with ceramic pads. If you feel that the pads wore down too quickly then they may have been a less than optimal type. Keeping disc brakes clean is key to making them last longer. When there is brake dust and naturally occurring rust built up in the calipers and slides, then they don't release immediately or completely when you let off the brake pedal and they may actually drag your pads.

2000 buick regal, abs studdering noise.

If you are braking hard and one or more wheels lose grip, the ABS system will modulate brake pressure in pulses to the slipping wheels. That is a normal feeling when this is happening. If you have a pulsation under light braking, it is likely that you have brake rotors that are no longer true and and need to be replaced or machined.

How to change a timing belt on a 1989 buick regal

This is a serious repair job (I've done it several times) and a real beast for the typical driveway mechanic. It's nothing like the simplicity of a fan or alternator belt. It's inside the engine!
A $50 part and 10 hrs of labor. A sure way to kill a weekend (if everything goes well)
The front engine cover, housing the waterpump, etc must come off (usually the radiator, etc is in the way)

The relationship between the position of the crankshaft and camshaft is critical (these 2 major rotating parts are connected by the toothed timing belt. One notch off during re-assembly and the car will never run right if it even starts.

Buy a good shop manual (factory is best but aftermarket is OK) and examine the steps before deciding to take on this tough job.
