You probably have a bad relay 9burned out) that has overheated and fused terminals-under the hood in the power center box, it should be marked-pull it to stop the fan, and you can probably use another less needed relay to get you buy until you get another. The fan is probably drawing too much power, however and will need to be checked for load to see if it is spec or you will continue to have this problem.

When I turn the engine off the engine cooling fan stays on and does not shut off

depending on the engine temperature the fan is supposed to remain on after you turn the engine off, until the engine reaches a preset cooler temperature. when it reaches cooler temperature usually within 5 minutes or so it should cut off... if you cut it off and it is running 30 minutes later.. then there is a problem with the fan relay or temperature sending unit.

2000 Dodge Caravan 2.4 L Radiator fan motor will not stop running with engine off.

The fan should continue to run until the coolant reaches the shut-down temperature as determined by a sensor. Check the coolant level, is the van running hotter than it used to? A radiator flush may resolve the problem as build-up in the system can coat the sensor, preventing it from operating correctly.

When I turn off the car the fan continues to run and now my brand new battery is going dead and I think it is because the fan wont shut off, would that be because I need a new relay ? Carolyn

it sounds like you have a relay stuck on. the relay on your your vehicle is located on top of the bumper under the plastic bumper cover. it is riveted down and will have to be drilled or ground off end re attached with a new rivet.

Engine cooling fan runs continuously after engine is shut off to the point that it drains the battery. This just started. I had to disconnect the battery to stop the fan and prevent the battery from going...

My fans did the opposite and wouldn't come on at all. Last year I went through the same process (KMANIAC again being a big help), but it turned out to be the temp sender unit. Maybe a good bet is to replace them both at the same time. I think the TSU was only about $15-20

It is activated by a temperature switch. It's probably bad. Just runs the fan at any time for no reason or there is a short in that part of the system. I hate that the computor was changed first. Find that sensor and swap it out and see if your problem doesn't go bye bye.

Good luck
