Question about 2004 Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

Car hesitation Hello. I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, automatic transmission. 75,000 miles. Last month I had a local technician give my car a tune up with new spark plugs, air filter, etc. My car was running fine until about 2 weeks ago. When I came off the expressway, my check engine light came on and my car would hardly accelerate. It was jumping, hopping, and just did not want to accelerate. If I pushed the accelerator very slowly, it would accelerate but would take about a minute to reach 50 mph. At the time, I only had an 1/8th of a gastank left so I filled it up and added STP Fuel Cleaner to my tank. It continued to run bad but made it home and shut the car off for the night. The next day, the car ran great again and the check engine light went off. It ran fine for about 2 weeks until last night and all the problems returned and I still have a half tank of gas. Any ideas what it could be?

I ahve the same problem. I replaced the plugs, wires and air filter. At 100K it needed to be done anyway but it did not fix the problem. It seemed better for a couple of weeks and then it came back?? Parts store told me it did not have a fuel filter.

when accelerating /driving...alot of vibration..dashboard lights blink in and out along w/chck engine, ER and ABS brake lights doing the same..head lights flickering..alot of "popping" noise thru the speakers..and the "key on" "tone" repeatedly..then would shut off when stopped, and seem to be w/out any power!? would have to wait minutes before it restored itself?..had diagnostic done, said it was the MAP sensor?..so I replaced it! and after for almost a day and a half, the vehicle ran great ..after that it was back to the same!!..routine w/maitinance..starting to be 1 thing after another w/this car!..the more I tlk to people who drive them, the more "bad" news Im told

Had a problem with a grand prix like that once, was the fuel filter, and injectors, all needed replaced, and it only had 89,000 miles.
Would check fuel filter first. Is it possible you got some bad gas??

hi, dear friend, timing belts should be changed every 50,000 to 75,000 miles, depending on driving conditions. For example, vehicles driven under extreme conditions, such as in excessively hot or humid weather, dusty environments, or racing or emergency vehicle operations. On 2004 Chrysler Serbing to change the timing belt at 90,000.

I have a 2005 chrysler sebring and the oil light started blinkiing and it felt like the car would cut off, then it started sputtring along each time i press the gas. I put three quarts of oil in it and the...

I don't think it's an oil related problem. Anytime car wants to stall dash lights (oil light etc,) will come on. Similar to when first starting. I would look into fuel filter and ignition issues as your source of problem. When was last "healthy" Tune up? (spark plug replacement, filters, hoses, belts) I'd give a healthy service and use that as a "ground zero" starting point.

Why do I have a ticking sound in my 2007 sebring transmission which have 75,000 miles?

That just happened to me. Check your transmission and make sure you have transmission fluid in your system. I just paid $2,000 to rebuild my transmission and the ticking was an indicator of the problem, but I didn't know it at the time.

2004 Chrysler Sebring it hesitates when I crank it up in the morning, however once it's been cranked up several times during the day it doesn't hesitate, only on cold starts. What could be wrong

The fuel filter should be changed first.
The engine fuel pressure over night is bleeding down into the fuel tank. I would suggest a tune up . If the condition continues after a tune up. The fuel pump is starting to go. You should then have a mechanic check out the fuel system and have the vehicle diagnose.

Car dies while driving

HI. this is a fuel filter issue. would have it replaced asap if possible. you should also, purchase a fuel additive to flush out the fuel injectors and fuel lines as well. Sea foam is a very good fuel system additive.

Due to the fact that this car is a 1999 model, i would change the fuel pump as well. this is good preventive maintenance.

One more thing, if you have not had a full scale tune up recently or, in the last 10,000 miles, i suggest scheduling one soon.

sounds like the coil pack is failing or you could just have water in your fuel.... buy a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze (it sucks up water) and add them to your tank when you fill up.... if that doesn't fix it it is likely the coil pack
