The sytem should be 134-R. If you are going to use bottles from parts store then you will need the hose and will only work on the bigger port..

Verify ambient temperature is above 65 degrees F.

1. Safety> - safety glasses, long sleeves and gloves, (exposure to refrigerant can cause frostbite).

2. Attach hoses to manifold> assembly, (hi, lo, and fill).

3. Remove caps from service ports, (Low press. Larger tube from evaporator to accumulator - passenger side over fender well; High Pressure - smaller tube from evaporator along firewall towards driver's side). Verify service> ports are clean.

4. Attach low press. and high press hoses to proper service ports.

5. Start car>, reset low refrig code, and turn ac on high and fan on high.

6. Read gauges and compare with chart provided with gauge set.

7. If low and high press readings are both low, then system needs recharge.

8. To recharge, attach fill hose to can of R134a and slowly open low press valve>, (NOT HIGH PRESS VALVE), until low press side reads 40 psi.

9. When flow stops and pressures stabilize close valves> and disconnect manifold from service ports and refrigerant can. Replace service port caps.

Which port is the a/c recharge port?

Those two ports are not the same. One is a high pressure side and one is a low pressure side. If I were facing this problem, I would go somewhere like a auto parts store and read the instructions on a gauge kit,. The kit has instructions telling you which side to recharge. That gauge also will test your system and tell you if you really do need to recharge it or not.
Be blessed.

My 1995 jx suzki sidekick 16 valve fuleinjection vehicle runs ok for about 2 miles, then i lose power. then it starts drift out of gear. you can floor the gas peddle and nothing happens. IT will sputter...

id not guess, there are 50+ reasons for misfire, yours is that.
the only way to diagnose a EFI problem is to use, tools .
got tools?
first tune it up, spark plugs, wire-set, cap, rotor and fuel filter & air filter. do the 60k tune up with a new timing belt if the belt slips all engine power drops, and misfires, and compression drops real low.
use a tool called a compression gauge.
1: the wrong gas cap will cause the fuel pump to stall. get a cap that is factory rated, with a real vacuum breaker.
2: low fuel pressure, use a , gauge .
3: injectors leaking or clogged, same gauge finds same failures.
there is no need to guess. and throw expensive parts, ever.

Ac needs recharged can,t find port

These ports are usually covered with blue plastic cap. Remember to always service on suction/low pressure line only, the low press. line is the large line coming off the compressor.

My recharging kit for air conditioner doesn't seem to fit recharge valve on 2004 dodge durango. How can I be sure i am looking at the low prerssure valve?

Newer vehicle come with R134 vs R12. Since the two are not compatible, R134 has larger fittings. AC system has two ports, High and Low. Low is return to AC Compressor and high is output. High port is first following line from compressor to condenser (condenser is at front of vehicle like a second radiator). Keep following line till you find high port (paint cap red). Second port is low (paint cap blue).
