Usually a loose steering wheel...is caused by the bearing inside the steering column.

Yeah, more than likely the bearings you should be able to feel the bearings grinding as you turn the wheel. you can buy all the parts and hope you get everything you need or go to a junkyard and buy the whole thing and replace it 5 times faster.

Took snow tires off and still sounds like I have them on also have a vibration in the steering wheel?

Steering wheel vibration is often caused by:
  • Out of balance tires
  • Bent wheels
  • Bad wheel or CV bearings
  • Loose suspension parts
"Road noise" is often caused by:
  • Bad wheel bearings or bad CV joints
I suggest checking for all of these.

1970 ford f250 shakes real bad when I let off the gas. Any ideas I'm stumped

it depends what shakes ? if it only dose it when your slowing right down without braking then it could be an engine mount. if your braking it could be many things from warped disks to track rod ends/ball joints/loose wheel bearings. try and trace the shake. front right-left/steering wheel/back right -left.checks to do are, jack car up and hold the top and bottom of the wheel and shake it/there should be no movement/hold the sides of the wheel and shake it/there should be no movement ( on all wheels ) grab engine and shake it while looking at both sides ( checking engine mounts ) shaking can be caused by a number of things even bad shockers. good luck

It could be something in your steering column or worn wheel bearings.

Steering wheel is loose on my 2002 f250

means there is a problem in the sterring system.
have the tie rod ends, ball joints,pitan/idler arm,and wheel bearings checked. one or more of them is the culprit, and all inexpensive and easy to replace.

2004 chevy trailblazer seems like the steering is loose. what might cause that?

Do you mean the steering wheel seems loose or the truck itself is loose, meaning you turn it and the reaction seems "delayed".

If the wheel itself is loose there are bearings inthe shaft that wear (pretty common) or you may have a front end compnent wearing out if the reaction is delayed.

Loose steering tire wabbles

Unless your entire rack is loose, there's nothing you can tighten, but it sounds like you have a wheel problem, more than a steering problem. It's either out of balance or the rim is bent. Try putting your spare tire on that one, and see if the problem persists. Even if your steering is out of whack completely, it won't cause a vibration... just bad steering.
