Question about 1991 Peugeot 405

1 Answer

Deisel engine Hi, I have a peugeot 2.5 boxer engined camper van, it has been fitted with a turbo charger since production by others. The first year the performance was fine, but recently the power from the turbo has rapidly declined. The garage has had the turbo checked by specialist and they said it was perfect. the garage has checked all the obvious things, breather system and exhaust for blockages, and all are clear.the ecu has a two wire system so not much diagnostic help there!I am getting concerned as to the problem as the engine has only done 27000. Can you please suggest what the problem could be? Best regards, Len.

You might check the transmission fluid level. The fluid may be entering the combustion chamber. That is if it's an automatic.

Peugeot 306 turbo deisel auto diagnostic light coming on. conditions frdidnt know if the freezing conditions could cause

Check that engine oil is atleast a grade of 10W40. If temperature is below 0°C then Standard engine oil mostly a cause of bad circulation.
To find out if its because of engine oil, drive the car (find out an empty motorway) 60MPH for at least 15-20 minute; come back home; turn the engine off: wait 2 minutes and then start again. if still there is check engine light, then the problem is something else.

Boxer van gear select problem

need to feel it ,could be clutch ,if it goes in without the running then its the clutch. But i think your problem is more like the linkage and if its a builders van, then you could have rubble dropped down inside the gearchange boot.???Boxer isnt the gearchange on the dash on this model??if so then the problem could be the linkage cable ,--they get a bit rusty and sticky and you can only buy a complete pair as one unit .Try oiling with a proper oil can and some engine oil ,and not that obnoxous fish oil wd stuff
