It's not that I'm being cheap. The real problem is that Volkswagen doesn't make cars that a normal human being can work on.

Do you have to remove the intake manifold to change the spark plugs on a 2000 vw beetle with a 2.0L engine

It is not necessary to remove the intake manifold to change the spark plugs on a 2.0L engine. You need a long extention with a flexible spark plug socket at the end. To remove the spark plug boots it is good to have the boot puller designed for this instance. They can be had from a good tool store or one of the mobile tool trucks like Snap-On. The hardest plug to get is the #2. I unclip the fuel injector electrical connector and move it out of the way. Then I pull the boot and move it under the intake so I can get the socket on easily. Reinstall the plugs without the rachet. Just turn the extention by hand so as not to damage any threads. Also put a little never-sieze or something similar on the threads before installation. Then use the rachet to tighten the plugs. Reverse assembly.

How to change spark plugs for 2000 vw beetle

With the intake where it is this can be verry hard. You may have to pull the intake manifole to get it done. I can pull 1,3,4 but 2 is a problem. Check with a good auto parts store many times they have people with mechanical skills and loaner tools.

How do I change the spark plugs on a 2000 Beetle.

No special tools required. Spark plugs or glow plugs mount down into the engine from the top. Last resort - follow the wires. Be careful when changong the plugs such that you don't break any of the wires. The wires are somewhat expensive, and break easily.

Bad missing in motor on 2001vw beetle

If it is a 1.8 turbo the plugs are under the coil packs on top of the engine. A regular spark plug wrench will fit them. They are down in the block about six inches. They are easy to change. I changed them in about 30 min. The coil packs are held on by 2 torx screws.
