Thinking of buying a 2006 rav4 with 54000. Is there any reason I should not buy a 2006 rav? Any particular problem with this year model. It has 2.4 automatic

I also bought a used 2006 RAV4 Sport (in 2008) and I am really happy with it. What you need to look for is for a clunk, pop or knock type noise when you are turning the steering wheel left of right. I noticed it when I test drove it. There is a service bulletin ST001-08 not a Recall. The dealer would have fixed it under the 36000 warranty but I don't know if it will be fixed after that. The 2006 RAV4 has no recall problems for the accelerator.

1998 toyota rav 4. Right side low beam headlight doesn't work. Hi beam on that side does. Checked fuses, they appear OK, and tried 2 other headlights. Left side hi and low working fine.

sounds like there is a broken wire. the only advise i can give you is to follow the hot wire for that light untill you find the break in the wire.

Is there an anti theft device in a 1998 Toyota Rav?

should have an immobiliser in it,you can tell if theres a flashing light on the dash somewhere that illuminates when the car is off,it will be a factory thing not fitted later ,if you cant see one anywhere it may not have one,it would be listed in the owners manual if you have it

Banging

drivetrain components worn or loose.
get under the rav and push up and in/out on the driveshaft (I'm assuming you have 4wd).

OH another thought is the spare tire is loose on the rear door....Mine just about fell off on its own. So we tighten it back down and my thunking noise went away.

Where is the tach wire in 1998 toyota rav 4?

You are not going to find the Tach wire in the engine compartment, because the tach signal comes out of ther vehicle's ECU.

The Tach wire is solid BLACK, located on pin 13 on the ECU.

Transmission just started slipping and clunking at 107,000 miles.

Well, I had the same problem and after changing the good as new looking pink fluid in a " do not change under normal driving conditions" transmission, having the ECM reprogrammed and taking the car by AAMCO transmissions I took a lead and bought an updated and new ECM and had it reprogrammed at the dealer. The shift bucking stopped and as long as you don't see out of the ordinary wear indicated by exessive flakes in the transmission pan the mechanicals of the trans are toyota reliable... it was just a badly designed ECM. I bought my new ECM for $800 online from a toyota car dealer in Virgina.
