My 01 Saturn sc2 will not start and has a mind of its own. battery is good . it is a NO crank not a no start . when it wants to start it fires as normal. What could it be. please give me as much info as you have

I had a 01 ss1 it was the shift lever. While I had the key in the crank position I wiggled the shift lever at the same time. Try neutral position too. These are neat little cars but when these stupid pain in the a.. problems come look out. Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

Check for a shorted or grounded fuel injector the test light will flash but there's not enough current to move the injector. Use a DVOM check that they're all the same.

Check to see whats wrong with 01 saturn sc 3d wont start
If it won't even ''crank'', then it is probably a bad ignition switch. If it does ''crank'', then there are too many possibilities for internet diagnosis. (But if _no crank_ after starter and battery replacement, it's a good bet that it's a bad ignition switch).

I have replace my starter on 01 Saturn sc 3 d the battery smokes when turned on

You are saying the engine cranks but does not start, right ?

My saturn sc2 2001, wont start, all the lights turn on so I know its not the battery...It just wont crank!! I pushed started it and it turned on...what could this be?
Have the battery load tested ad also check the charging system and starter. Lights don't draw as much as a starter, and cannot be used as a reliable way of testing battery. Make sure all connections are clean and secure as well. Chances are the battery is not as good as you believe.

97 saturn sc2
I had the same problem with a 97 sc2. The fix for my car was the temp sensor that controls the extra fuel when engine is cold it didn't sense that the engine was warmed up and added extra fuel flooding the engine.
