EGR Valve Closed pintle Position This valve is located on the intake manifold near the carb (behind I think) It looks like a flying saucer on its side with a six sided raised portion and a vacuum line going into it. If you push on the valve diaphragm (side opposite the raised portion I mentioned earlier) it should move in and out without too much effort. Be sure the engine is cold to prevent burns. If the valve is stuck - replace it. There also may be a filter in on a bracket near the valve if your vehicle is equiped with an electronic VRV (Vaccum Regulator Valve) Hope this helps. Let me know. Thanks

Code 1404 EGR pintel position closed, the test is a long one and requires a scanner, but better then 80% of the time it is either a bad EGR valve or a plugged passage under the valve.

Got code PO449 on the obd11 scanner, could you

p0449 is an evaporative emission code that indicates a problem with the canister vent solenoid.. without being able to scan and check all of the system I would recomend replacing the vent solenoid. I believe their was a GM TSB on that part and it has been modified.
please respond with fix details

I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy that has on 160,000

The problem is with your vacuum system. The hubs are operated by a vacuum pump/motor on each individual wheel. This is usually where the problem is. It's not expensive to fix but you might need a vacuum gauge/pump to diagnose which wheel the problem is coming from. Also, the vacuum leak could be from another part of the system. To know whether or not it is try your cruise control. If it works ok then its probably at the wheel. More than likely just a hose since you said it has rarely been used.

Diagnostic code 1404

best bet is to replace it for the long run. if code still comes on we have had a few chevy cars that needed a pcm updated this can only be done by the dealer most of the time it cost only one hour of labor. and it fixed it plus a few other things also good luck.
