Question about 1992 Mazda 626
My Mazda 626 had done about 220,000 k's. When the car has warmed up, and under load or I try to accelerate quickly, the engine seems to rapidly loose power (almost like it is changing gears) + puff and splatters. It has now also started to overheat under load. I presume it needs an engine rebuild? I have a reasonable understanding of cars and worked on them back in my early days, so is there a step by step manual (I can purchase) to repair this? If so, how much do you think this will cost + what would you estimate the parts to costs?
Yes you can purchase a repair manual online if you like from this site, or local parts stores they run about $25.00 or so, and might consider either purchasing a OBDI diagnositc scanner or take it to a shop to save guess work. You can perform several tests to check properly such as compression test wet and dry or simple spark test, fuel pressure test and so forth all of the tests can be found in repair manual.
