Alarm warning system on '02 Mercury Mariner 150HP E.F.I.-

Today my engine warning system began making 4 loud, piercing beeps when the outboard engine was running...the owners manual tells me to refer to the engine operation maintenance manual for a description of the alarm/problem being indicated...however there is no such manual included with my papers. Please help as I am supposed to take my boat out for the rest of the weekend out of town and must know what this means!!

If the alarm has been triggered the horn will sound four (4) times when you disarm the alarm. beep beep beep beep The LED will be blinking very fast.

To identify what caused the alarm to be triggered:
Open the door and press the Emergency Override button. Do not turn the ignition on.
Count the number of times the horn sounds
beep codes:
1 honk = impact sensor
2 honks = ignition was turned on
3 honks = N/A
4 honks = door or trunk opened

How long was if running before beeps ? if it was stored most of the season did you check to see if the water pump was squirting out lots of water when started ? usually there will be an alarm onthe low water pressure sensor or on the overheat warning sensor make shure water is spraying out of exaust just above water line check that first . if there is very little water coming from water pump then you should inspect water pump impeller before running to much its an easy repair and with some simple tools you can repair right at the marina on the trailer part is about 60.00 good luck and let me know how it goes bye for now

Engine tank should be plumb full tight. The engine supplies about 2 lbs pressure through one of the 2 lines going to the boat tank. The other line takes the oil to the engine tank. If that line gets kinked or pinched, the engine tank won't get oil, a check valve lets a little air into it, and the oil pump keeps getting oil. When it goes down just a little, the alarm goes off telling you something is wrong.

Sludge in the boat tank could plug up the pickup screen. I've also seen them plugged up by a foil oil bottle seal carelessly dropped into the tank.

Once you find out why the oil couldn't get there, start the engine with the cowl off and loosen the cap on the engine oil tank until it leaks, then tighten it down and clean up the mess. That tank is normally plumb full tight.

If when the engine is running, you crack the cap on the boat tank, you should hear pressure let off. If the cap leaks, it won't build up pressure. If there is pressure, the oil line is plugged or kinked.

If pressure isn't supplied, the problem would be the crankcase check valve on the engine, lower forward starboard side, with the hose going to it.

hope it helps

2015 Suzuki 4 stroke 175 when first started I let idle for 10 to 15 min . I put it in reverse to get off the trailer and it beeps every 3 to 5 sec and check engine flashes. What does this mean?

Hi
Are you sure that's not a 'safety feature' to warn others that you're reversing - like on commercial trucks?

Also, why do you let it warm up for 10-15 mins? Seems excessive? Is this suggested in the Owner's Manual for that engine? As this is surely fuel injected, it should be ready to go immediately....or wait ~5 minutes if you're going full throttle from the dock/launch...to let the oil warm a bit.

How can I disable the car Alarm

No there is not way to do this without locking out the engine. Have the dealer scan the theft deterrent system for the fault code.

STalling out with acceleration

Possible MAF sensor or loss of fuel pressure due to a failing fuel pump is best guess. I would really need to drive it to be sure and run some tests

2005 jeep wrangler when i turn lights on beeping starts

did you RTM read the operators guide yet,
it tells you why all beeps beep and what lamps flash, (warning) and why. did you?
you turn on, the head lights, (what about 1st click , parking lights"?)
and does the dash cluster, show warnings of any kind?

if a door is ajar the system will think, you are exiting veh. with lights on and tell you, buy beeping ,etc.
but on my jeep it says on the dash DOOR, or on EVICs, (not yours)
the newer car even tells what door IS AJAR.
mine on shows , "DOOR"
the operator guide will say, check all doors for ajar, and get warning clear before driving....etc.

if you lost the guide here it is for free

http://justgivemethedamnmanual.com/jeep/jeep-wrangler-owners-manuals/

click the 05 link
ignore beeps, there are just too many .. i look at the cluster and learn to read it..
my newer jeep 08 can produce 1000s of errors,,,,, possible.
in fact the intent it to beep to tell the driver to look at the cluster
for in depth, causes.
see chapter starting on page 136'

once sound it makes is Check gauges chime. so check them.
and headlamps left on
and door ajar.

page 63
NOTE: If the driver's door is left open, and the headlights
or parking lights are left on, the "High Beam
Indicator Light" will flash and a chime will sound.
Lights-On Reminder
If the headlights or parking lights are on after the ignition
is turned off, a chime will sound when the driver's door

its a crude system, and evolved to complex in 2007.
"DOOR" or RF-door , on mine.
or

NOTE: A tone will chime if the turn signals are left on
for more than 1 mile (2 km).

After sitting in trafffic on the interstate for about 45 min, my 2006 4 cyl. mercury mariner began making a loud squealing/screaming/whining noise almost like a horn sound. the noise occurs at 0mph and...

Loud & Squealing -- sounds more like a belt or the pulleys
going bad,or alternator bearing

A hissing or other less squealing sound ---could be a

intake manifold gasket leak, but your engine would run lean
& set a MIL Lamp or Wrench on the dash

They is no value what so ever with an oil change jockeys
opinion, you need a local repair shop

Doubt anything is cracked

This is a social web site & as you know any prices come
from the merchants you deal with & only when they know
what has to be resolved

Working on vehicles or anything else is not a guessing
game & that is all we can do without the vehicle to test

I have a 2005 kia sorento and a light came on today next to the fuel it is yellow im not sure what the light means

There are many yellow lights on vehicles. They can be different on the same make and model of any particular vehicle depending on what option packages your vehicle is equipped with. Your best bet is to look it up in your owners manual. If you do not have an owners manual, I offer this advise: On all vehicles with the warning lamps in the instrument cluster, the yellow lamp are advisory lamps. ie. telling you that there is a malfunction with a system or letting you know that certain systems have been disabled. It is usually safe to operate the vehicle with the yellow warning lamps illuminated long enough to get the vehicle to a repair facility. (Check Engine Lights, Airbag Lights, Low washer Fluid Lights, etc.)The red lamps on the other hand, mean that the vehicle is not safe to drive before the cause of the lamp coming on has been resolved. (examples are the red Brake Warning Lamp, The Engine Teperature Warning Lamp, The Oil Pressure Warning Lamp.)
Since you stated the the lamp is yellow, I would say that it would be safe to drive the car to your local repair facility and ask them about it and get a professional opinion of what to do about it.
