Question about 2001 Hyundai Accent
Vehicle will wind over well while starting but won`t fire up then it will fire into life no probs and happily run without a problem! i am mechanic and was hoping to chase up some info on diagnosis with said vehicle! Was contemplating possible errors such as crook cam angle sensor but have no info on the diagnosis procedure of vehicle eg, code testing and location of ADSL connection also codes if there are any as check engine lamp doesn`t seem to be staying on after start up! vehicle seems to have ignition power and it has great spark when running(will jump an inch easy to earth with a bright blue glow and has no miss as such) so my first thought was the sensor as i mentioned! Ido really need some tech info as i am not working in the trade and r helping a friend with vehicle and is hard without the correct litrature! Any help would be appreciated! Andrew!!!
I had this problem on my 2001 accent too. It turned out to be the front O2 sensor. Try disconnecting that by the exhaust manifold. If it starts right up that's your problem

Just fixed one of these by replacing the crank position sensor.
Symptoms were basically not restarting after warmup and spontaneously dying in route when warmed up. Still had a pretty reliable cold start though. I assume there is some kind of coil pickup in the sensor that develops hairline crack(s) with age ( >100,000kms). When cold these cracks are closed and conducting, but they expand and open when the motor heats up towards operating temperature causing timing to stop and the motor to die.
I hope this helps. If you have a friend with one of these cars, borrow his sensor for an hour and try it out. Takes 5 minutes to get it out and back in from the front underneath. You reach up just right of the exhaust manifold and follow the sensor's lead to the block. It is retained by a single 10mm bolt to the right of the sensor's head.
