Question about 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

Blazer s10 1999 fuel usage excessive

Have recently purchased the above truck, and found it is running at 5km/l of fuel, it has had new air filter put in, new thermostat as it was running cold, made no differnce, then did all the ht leads, new spark plugs, distributer cap, and new dizzy, this has made a slight difference but still not up to my mates 10 - 11 km/l, it has since been to a high performance mechanic for tuning on the dyno, this has resulted in nearly 6.5km/l.

has anybody got any ideas on where else to start looking to resolve this issue, i like the truck and dont want to have to sell it.

look forward to some helpful responses

check the fuel pressure available to the injectors, remove ,clean and adjust the injectors , fit new seals under the injectors when putting them back. run the fault codes to check for mixture sensor problems.

I got a 89 chevy k5 blazer turns on relly good runs good but when i put it on drive or revers and give it gas it bogs out but stays on as i go it runs bad

Sounds like air fuel mixture so a new air filter and fuel filter change cant hurt. Change out wirers I would if it were mine.

leaky injector/s is flooding motor, mechanically clean or replace. And clean throttle body while you are at it with spray cleaner. Should be almost spotless where large throttle valve opens and closes.

1997 chevy blazer S10 replaced the fuel pump & fuel filters it only cranks if you put gas straight into the fuel injection but wont stay running we checked every thing we could think of. we were told...

I've not heard of an "oil reset" like can be found on lawn mower engines.

Were the replaced items new or used?

Did you check the fuel pump fuse?

Is there a bleed port on the fuel injector rail, and if so, did you bleed the air from the fuel rail (this may be the reset that you were told about) ?

My 2003 Honda CRV consumes excessive Fuel and also Its check engine (MIL) is ON. What can I do?

It sounds like you just need to replace the air filter. In my Honda, a dirty air filter would cause both of those problems.

1989 S10 Blazer acting like its not getting gas.

I had the same problem with my blazer and it took me to completely rebuild the throttle body and put over $300 into the top end, new filter, and it still didn't stop. I finally dropped the tank and started to go through all the proper steps to remove the new fuel pump and i found that the rubber tube from the pump filter to the intake tube had a crack down the middle of it, replaced that and it ran perfectly fine. if that's not the case make certain that you didn't accidentally switch the small fuel lines like i did.(you'll notice that EVERYTHING smells like gas and you'll have fuel draining out of the charcoal cab emissions filter). hope that helps out a little bit!

My truck will not start. i have a new starter, alternator, fuel filter fuel pump, mas, air filter. any other suggestions. its fine once its started. i spay choke spray in it to get started.

I have had similar problems and had to replace the fuel pressure regulator. It's a major expense because it sets below the diaphram in the intake manifold. Ask your mechanic about it, it may be the issue. I would get about 30,000 miles between replacement, I've replace it 3 times since purchasing the 2000 chevy blazer new, first one was under warranty.
