Have a 1988 accord. Engine idles real high rpm (4-5k) It is a carb'd model. I replaced the carb with one from a junk yard. Just can't get the rpm down.

even with a use carb you should have had it reconditioned before installing it, and also replace the spacer gasket , other wise you are fighting a lost cause

Did you check #1 fuse 15 amp to see if it were blown? This fuse also controls the fuel pump. This Test procedure is from Mitchell Repair.

Is there a way to repair the fuel lines in the unibody of my 1988 honda accord

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya.

You have quite a problem here... there are currently no replacement fuel line parts for a 1988 honda accord. What you can do right now is to visit a local car junk shop and find yourself an accord of the same model. You'd probably spend alot of time doing this but this is the only way. Best wishes.

Thanks and have a nice day.

1988 Honda won't start

the problem is most likely the fuel pump has seized up, the reason for this is when u run out of gas the pump which uses the gas around it to cool gets very hot and the bearings seize up, get this kink of complaint all the time on fixya.

Losing power to fuel shutoff relay

The power for the shutoff relay actually comes from a secondary winding on the ignition coil itself. Why the enging would shut the fuel pump off is that as the engine ran for a while the coil gets warm and then breaks down or opens up the circuit for the fuel shutoff relay. Fixed by replacing $85.00 coil.
