Either you have a bad O2 sensor or the screen in your CAT could be clogged.

2003 lincoln ls what does the codes 420 and 430 mean

PO420--Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank1)
PO430-- " " " " " (Bank2)

O2 Sensor
Coolant Temp Sensor
High Fuel Pressure
Bad Converter
Thermostat
Etc

Owning a 2004 V8 myself--I will say your need to go thru the entire engine, as to how it is running
It may be overheating due to coil misfires or other issues and ruined the
converter

You need to solve all issues before replacing a converter
I would stay far away from a dealer, unless you have a couple thousand to spend

How repair replace part for code p183,p420,p430,p462

PO183--Engine Fuel Temp Sensor,Verify PID Value
PO420---Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank1),O2 Sensors,Coolant Temp Sensor,Misfiring,etc
PO430--- Catalyst (Bank2)
PO462---Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Low Input,pump module,etc

Well----Codes do not tell you what part to replace,Just that a possible system failure has ocurred
Unless you have a scanner, not a code reader and a trouble chart, your done.
No experience,done

I would speculate, that you only have a couple of, not too serious issues, but wouldn't guess,it doesn't work that way.
Always test, and only replace things if they fail a test.

P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency below Limit - Bank No 2" How would I fix that without taking it in? P0430 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
you need a scan tool to monitor the upstream and downstream 02 sensors on bank 2 more than likely its the converter. also check for exhaust leaks before converter . Most times the problem is the Downstream O2 sensor2_bing.gif is defective.

I have 2 trouble codes on my 2002 dodge ram 1500 codes p4032 main catalyst below threshold bank2 aqnd p0420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold. how do i trouble shoot the cat or sensor fault

9 times out of then this points to bad cat and the cat will need be changed.

Other things that can cause this code are an exhaust leak before the front 02 sensor or the car in need a of a tuneup badly. Generally if this problem is sensor related you would have other codes also.

If you want to know of the cat is bad the computer stores data and when you have a data scanner that can access MODE 6 the data can indicate whether your cat is the issue or not. Its a bummer you have to have this diagnosed by a professioal to get this data since the scanners do not get loaned out.

I have heard of alot of cats that were replaced for no reason because of other reasons so be cautious on how to address this because your not going to be able diagnose this without a data scanner and all the specifications for the sensors.

Check and see what the codes are this time, no need to replace something you don't have to.
