The easiest way is to pull the axle. You will then have plenty of room to swap out your alternator.

Why does battery go dead in two days?

If goes dead while driving not charging possible bad alternator. If goes dead regardless of driving probably a power drain somewhere. Easy way to test alternator is test battery voltage with a multimeter and make sure at least 12.5. Start car check voltage again and see what it is shot be around 14. If not alternator is most likely bad.

How easy is it to replace alternator?

It is pretty simple to replace the alt. go to youtube and type in your make model and type of part or what you need replaced, there will be a whole bunch of videos on DIY how to, step by step. Trust me it's easy if you follow directions and have tools .remember to disconnect battery first.

I have a 2001 rodeo Isuzu the battery gets drained loses speedometer and ac stops blowing then reduced power light comes on.what could be the problem?

For starters, it sounds like your battery can't produce enough amperage. Have it tested and replace if needed. Then see if things are better.

Battery keeps going dead. We jump it and goes dead in 5 min. the gauges quit working also.

You have a bad alternator. Get the alternator checked, the alternators in 98 cavalier require at least 13 to even start the car off of battery power. The alternator is what charges your car's battery while you are driving. if you have bad alt then your jumping the car is pointless cause it won't harge your battery at all it just kick starts the engine with power from the other vechile. If the alternator is showing at the very least more than 15 when its tested time for a new one. They should run about $90-110, it's an easy do it yourself installation to. Good Luck!!!

How easy is it to replace the alternator

The battery must be disconnected, the serpentine drive belt removed, the wiring disconnected from the alternator and finally the alternator unbolted from its mountings and removed.

This is not a DIY job if you do not know what you are doing and do not have the appropriate tools. Have it changed by a competent mechanic or auto electrical specialist.

Battery light on dash flases on 2001 ford expedition

alternator is going bad or just the regulator circuit to keep output constant is going bad. if alternator is the problem, first check for oxidation on cables, if they are ok probably the brushes inside alternator are worned out. you need a new alternator or need it to be fixed. if regulator is bad you need a new regulator or the broken component to be fixed. either ways this must be an easy fix. 1 hour job.

My 2000 Mercury Cougar was not charging, so I changed the alternator and battery. Now, I still have the same problem. When I take the battery cable off to see if the alternator is charging the car dies....

Well that is a good and easy test. The alternator you just replaced is probably bad. Once the vehicle starts its the alternator's job to keep the vehicle running. You need to take that alternator back to the auto parts store and exchange it for a good working one.

I hope this helps you out, if it does please give me a YES that I did help you correct your problem. Thank you.

I have a 1989 honda accord exi , its either the alternator or a bad ground somewhere , how do i determine if its a bad ground running down my battery , or if its my alternator

You can follow the ground from the battery to the frame. Cleaning the connections to the battery and the frame including making sure the frame is bare metal where the ground bolts on will usually fix a ground issue. If your alternator is bad it won't charge the battery. But it won't drain your battery. An easy way to test your alternator is to start the car, and remove the positive battery cable. The vehicle should be able to run off of the alternator with no lights on. Hope this helps

Starting problem, battery? alternator??

Unless you have good jumper cables it would start easy since I didn't get in on the begining of this I will assume you have a bad connection tothe starer or a bad starter if it drags.
