Question about 1991 Honda Civic
My CX has never had a cigarette lighter in it since the day I got it. Now I need to put one in, but have no idea where it hooks into. I have the instructions for replacing it, but not for inserting it new. Any Ideas?
I think I have it figured out. First, the Haynes manual shows the lighter and radio circuit. The Chilton(sp?) does not.
The Radio and Lighter are both on a 10 amp W/Bu wire. My 91 Civic actually had a connector tucked behind the radio. A trip to your local junk yard may be helpful. The connector is a 4 pin connector, but only 2 are used.
The manual says the hot wire is W/Bu but the wire looked more W/Grn to me. I also was unable to find any reference to a W/Grn wire in the manual.
The commonality of the wire in the diagram showed as a 4 in a triangle, it was very easy to overlook.
When I found the lighter at the junkyard I also grabbed the portion past the connector. That's how I was able to locate the connector behind the radio. The connector an wires matched. I checked for current with a meter and it looked good. However, it's only hot when the accessories are on.
So far so good. No magic blue smoke has escaped. If anyone sees an obvious error in my posting, please let me know.
