Question about 1984 GMC C1500

1 Answer

Battery problem???? hi-my name is matt i bought a 1984 gmc sierra c-1500 about 8 months ago to do restoration work to the body. i not have it completely rust free but not that i have started driving it on a daily basis, at least once a day it acts like the battery is drained and really struggles to start. please remember that it only does this once or twice, sometimes three times a day. i have already looked at the battery terminals and made sure that they were making good contact. during the winter i had problems with the starter only once but that was because it was so cold it didnt want to raise and contact the flywheel. if anyone could help me find out the problem i would be absolutely THRILLED.

Hey matt

well seems like the battery is not fully charging or needs to be replaced this is what u should do and it will really help u open up all the knobs on the top of the battery make sure there full if not top them up with water not all the way.
start the car take the positive battery lead off if the car stalls (stops) the altinator is had it if it runs the altinator is fine

also get the altinator tested to see if its putting out the right power and check the tension on your belt

make sure the car battery earth has a very good ground with no rust around it

last thing is you could have a slack starter motor check the leads on it are tight hope this will help you

There are electric shift solenoids onside the valve body. The modulator valve plays a part in when the shift occurs too. Have them checked out for proper operation.

Sounds like you need to replace your throttle body. Maybe just the seal on the base. Really no way to check other then replace, But if you do replace make sure they change the gaskets along with it. Good luck to you, You may get a good one from a salvage yard to test it out,

My 2006 GMC sierra 1500 heater fan stopped working. It started about 6 months ago when the high speed stopped working, now none of the speeds works.

This is your blower motor regulator. It is under the glove box and behind the blower motor itself. They are cheap to purchase but a pain in the rear side to replace. Hope this can help you out sir.

I have a 1994 gmc 1500 truck with a 5.7 v8.one fuel injector is pumping fuel and the other injector is not!!!!i swapped the injectors and its not the injector.

Go to the parts store and get a noid light for your truck, plug it into the injector electrical and turn the engine over to see if there is electrical pulse, also check the fuel pressure, the pump needs 9-13 psi with the engine running. you know if there is no pulse your going to need to check the wireing first. let me know

2005 gmc sierra heater fan quit working. I lost the fifth speed months ago and a couple of days ago lost the other four, the first day the fan would come on sometimes while driving then quit after a while...

1-4 speed are the blower motor resister . It controls all 1-4 speeds, also it's under the passanger side dash around fan, the 5th speed runs off a fuse the is located in the fuse box. It's one of those square fuses , not the relays but fuses. The resister will run $15 and fuse $5 . Good luck. I have replace these before

Hi, can you tell me how to reset the change engine oil light on my 2002 GMC Sierra 4X4 1500 PU. I changed the oil two weeks ago. Thanks, Gene

with key on engine off depress accel pedal 3 times within 5 secs. You may have to repeat the procedure several times for the reset procedure to complete. dont stomp on the pedal. Slowly depressing seems to work best.

2002 GMC won't start

I have the same model and went through the same trouble. Last summer I put a reman'd starter on it and had no problems again until about 4 months ago, it started all over again. I was sure then that it wasn't the starter. I talked to the mechanic at work and we walked over to the parts locker and all the GM starters on the shelf (remans) had the solenoids replaced, we said in unison, Must be a common problem.
I figured the original starter lasted 130,000 miles so I went to Napa and bought a brand new one. Working like a champ ever since.

1995 GMC 1500 sierra loses power

The bad typing is hard to understand.I ll take a stab at it anyway. You replace the plugs, distibuter, feul filter, and the air filter.Did you notice that i dont even care about the sea foam garbage. When you replaced all that stuff did you do the spark plug wires or the rotor or the coil or the fuel pump?Maybe your mechanic needs to make a few extra bucks off that last job he did for you.Good luck
