Question about 1984 GMC C1500
well seems like the battery is not fully charging or needs to be replaced this is what u should do and it will really help u open up all the knobs on the top of the battery make sure there full if not top them up with water not all the way.
start the car take the positive battery lead off if the car stalls (stops) the altinator is had it if it runs the altinator is fine
also get the altinator tested to see if its putting out the right power and check the tension on your belt
make sure the car battery earth has a very good ground with no rust around it
last thing is you could have a slack starter motor check the leads on it are tight hope this will help you
