Question about 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe

99 tahoe dies starts dies

While pulling out of a parking lot my 99 tahoe died. i tried to start it and it wouldnt , it actually felt as if it were out of gas. i pushed it forward 3 feet so it was level and it started fine. i pulled across the road to an alleyand it sputtered and died again. it took a friend about twenty minutes to get some gas to me(my guage is kinda wonky so i had to try. it started right up and and i drove to the station and put a few gallons in. i then drove the 10 miles back to my house but when ever i tried to give it over 1/3 throttle it had no pick up but it didnt die. when i pulled in to my drive way and parked, it was idleing smoothly and i shut it off and restarted it. it was fine forabout 15 seconds and then it dropped to a barely functioning idle. when i gave it gas it dropped down as low as possible and no amount of throttle feathering would get it to rev up and it died after about thirty seconds. it wouldnt start again and after sitting for about 2 minutes it started right up and ran fine for 30 seconds so i shut it off and restarted it. it ran fine for 10 seconds and then repeated the no rev and then die thing all over again till it died. after a couple it started right up fine again. what the heck man i gotta have this truck or i'm totally messed. any help would be awesome.

vehicle drove fine to church, went to leave church started fine backed out of parking spot fine started to drive forward and it died. restarted fine put it in drive and idles rough give it gas and it goes a little and dies. i found it does not die in manual low if i am real easy on the throttle. drove ten mph home, tried cleaning the idle air control valve and throttle body, no change. what other possibilities could it be?

I'f your check engine light is on go to auto parts store and have them scan it for you. Most will do this for free. I'f light is not on,check for fuel pressure. Valve is in steel fuel line on top of engine. Remove plastic cap (valve looks like steel tire valve). With key in on position push in pin in center. Fuel should spray out.

Ive got a 1996 gmc k1500 with 5.7 vortec and my truck did the same thing to me 4 times. So the first time it acted up,after running good all day, I checked the gas gsuge and it read between 1/4 tank and empty. So I went and got 5 gallons of gas, put gas in and it fired up.So I drove the truck around, just for my curiosity, the gas tank read 1/2 full between 1/4 tank and empty and it did it again. It only happens when I take off from a dead stop.So from now on my 1/4 tank line is my EMPTY.Just try to keep more gas in the tank.GOOD LUCK

Car died in parking lot, replace battery, still no start...when I turn key, car wont start and the power on radio(the clock) also dies...like losing power somehow....

It's possible that the starter is bad but don't think it would cause the car to die or just stop running. You say in a parking lot, did you shut it off and then tried starting it? and no start? if so check the starter !!!

Lumina Starting/Dying Problem

this could be one of the two things that I am thinking it is...it is either the throttle position sensor or it si the fuel pump getting too hot and cooling off slightly enough to restart the engine. Both are related but separate systems. The throttle position sensor is on the side of the throttle body and it merely tells the computer where the throttle plate is in the throttle body to create the proper fuel mixture for the injectors. The fule pump ios loccated insid eof the fuel tank it either runs or it doesnt usually. If it gets hot it is about to go completely out all together.

Mass air and throttle position

sounds to me like your having a air leak... my hose on my tahoe had a tiny pin leak in it and it did the same thing... check the small hose that goes from the air filter to the head of the motor... that was where mine was if not, check your o2 censor...
