I'm having a similar issue with a Pontiac Montana SV6, Brought it to the shop, they said it could be a failing Oxygen sensor. The problem since went away for quite a while, but now it's back, then gone again. My gas consumption went way up, I mean at least double. When i first reported the problem to the car dealership, the fellow suggested to check the gas cap. I did, it appeared loose, so I fixed that. The engine light turned off right away. But the problem is back with a vengeance. The idling has become rough. In fact, when I started the motor in -20c temp one day, it actually backfired.

I thought that I had run out of oil because the gas consumption was so high. (excessive friction I wondered).

On another note. This vehicle is equipped with a GPS starter blocking device. I wondered if RF interference from that device could be causing the on-board computer to misunderstand signals being sent by a variety of sensors.

Would love to read comments on this.

For now though, all points to this oxygen sensor. But because the problem is intermittent, no hard faults appeared in the diagnostic.

So now I am looking at buying an engine diagnostic data logger so that if the problem re-appears, I will have a log of the hard faults required by the service station, so I can get this thing fixed on warranty.

M engine light will not turn off

had same problem. i solved my problem by using gasoline with 10% ethenole. usually takes two or three tank fills. this cleaned my sensors and the engine light went out. my engine light was on for several years before i accidently tried this. if your sensors are failing the engine light will come on in some cases. the 10% ethenol cleaned my sensors and it turn the light off. i went back to cheap gas and after one tank, my engine light came back on. it took two tanks of gasoline with ethenol before the engine light went off. i use regular gasoline and buy it at an H.E.B. grocery store that has a filling station. try this first. the sensors are not cheap and you can still have use for the gasoline. good luck.

Car Issues

I'm sorry to say you will not find an answer online for this.
As a mechanic I would have to be there in person, and the problem would have to be happening for me to track down the cause.
I will say I did not understand your statement about the gears behind the dash, what you described sounded like a wiring problem or something in one of the electrical components.
If the check engine light or the ABS light came on while the engine was running, you could have trouble codes stored in the computer. So it may be worth a visit to a shop or auto parts store to get the computer scanned. The codes would give you a direction to look in.

2005 ford explorer ABS, SES LIGHT, AND ADVTRAC LIGHT ON

The first thing to do is to have the ABS and engine computers scanned for trouble codes.
The problem with the check engine light could also turn on the ABS and traction control lights. Or it could be different issues.
The gas gauge being out of calibration could be the float in the gas tank or the gauge on the dash. I doubt that problem is related to the warning lights.

I have a 1998 Dodge Caravan. I got a "tune up" approx. 2 weeks ago with new spark plugs, fuel filter & air filter. It did fine driving around town & on a 130 mile trip. I filled up with...

Sounds like you got a tank of bad gas. That would easily cause your issues. Start by draining as much as you can, put a can of Seafoam in there, add a few gallons of fresh gas, drive to the gas station and tank up, and run that tank down until your gas light comes on before adding more. You may end up needing a fuel filter or plugs again, but with minimal run time on the bad gas, you'll probably be fine.

The ck engine light is telling you to have it scanned and it will have a trouble code to indicate where to look for the problem. You may have a Vent valve or purge valve problem, it may just be a coincidence that it happened after filling up.

Brake failure urgent , abs light, low battery

So many lame responses...I went through this same experience and can tell you in my case it was the alternator. All of the warning lights such as the ABS light, airbag light, the warning about the brakes are all because the alternator is not providing the DC voltage all of the car's sophisticated electronics need to correctly monitor these subsystems' status. Mine left me high and dry by the side of Interstate 5 needing a tow. The low battery warning was off and on for about an hour before all of the other warning lights came on, and then about 5 minutes later every needle on the dash went to zero and the car died. After sitting waiting for the tow, it did start up again, but we got it towed to a dealer (thank god it got us within 8 miles of a dealer! the first warnings started when we were in the sticks) who diagnosed it as an alternator. $1200 and two days later and all is well again.

Chev express oil light

yours is a common product with both chevy and gmc. it most cases it is not a real problem as far as operating the vehicle goes, but oh so annoying. I recommend that you drive it another hundred miles and take it to an autozone where they usually have a computer check for free.

Doesnt always start, but lights, radio, AC/heat does come on.

First place to check is the battery. Old ones can push your lights , radio, etc, but the starter is the real load. . Can verify this by using jumper cables to a running vehicle and watch your machine fire right up! The reason mornings are the worst, is the battery has had the most time to discharge, and it is probably cooler outside.
