try this install the new key in the ignition switch. turn on the ignition switch to the on position for 10 minutes.when the system led lock light disappear.turn off the ignition switch for 5 seconds.then start the engine.still dont start.try this procedure few more times.if car still dont crank and you see the pad lock symbols.the dealership will have to reprogram the new key and body control module.
it could be your security system that locked itself up these cars are bad for that, the way to see is to turn the key on and see if the security light flashes on and off if so it is locked, the way to unlock it is to turn the key to the on position until all the lights come on and let it sit for 10 minutes and then turn the key off for 3 seconds and then it should start. if this doesnt help then it could be the fuel pump. hope this helps.
CHEVY IMPALA &
On a Chevy Impala or Monte Carlo with indirect TPMS, a totally
different reset procedure is required. You can use the light switch or
radio to reset the system. With the light switch procedure, turn the
ignition on (engine off), the turn the light switch from OFF to parking
lamps three times within five seconds. With the radio technique, turn
the ignition on (engine off). With the radio off, hold the DISP button
until “SETTINGS” is displayed. Use the SEEK button to scroll down the
menu until you see “TIRE MON.” Press the PREV or NEXT buttons until
“RESET” is displayed. Then press the DISP button again. You should
hear a chime and see “DONE” to indicate the TPMS system has been
successfully reset. Use the SEEK button to scroll through the menu
until “DONE” is shown, then press DISP once more to exit from the learn
I have the same car, I had my car fixed at the dealer. The problem is the ignition lock cylinder (where the key goes). It cost me about $340 (parts and labor). What has happened is that the cylinder is not sending the info to the starter to start the car. I guarantee you this is your problem too.
If the battery has gone dead, it could cause the security system to go into full lock-up mode. If it has locked up the accessories will work after the battery is charged back up , but the power to the starter will be cut off and it wont turn over. You need to do the 30 minute learn procedure. A GM dealer will print it out for you and you can do it yourself. It's very simple if you follow the procedure exact. hope this helps and good luck.
Yes! After installed, trun key on (engine not running) for 30 mins.,trun off and back on for 10mins., turn off and back on for 10 mins. more; flashing light will go off turn off and try starting engine. Good luck! it's GM's reset for that.
