What caused my 2000 Nissan Quest engine problem?

This engine is definitely beyond repair and needs replacement. I would first shop auto recyclers in your area to find an engine/transaxle with less miles than what your mechanic is offering (100,000 miles is a lot). Hope this helps.

Hi my 1997 nisan sentra has the service engine soon light on my mechanic says i may have to replace the timing belt soon is it worth it? i keep hearing a ticking sound and it only seems to be getting...

a timing belt change is not monitored by the service engine soon light.it comes on when the computer detects a problem and sets a code.the code will have to be pulled to know what area to start to diagnose.the ticking could be anything from low or dirty oil needing to be changed to the valves may need adjusting, even a worn or dry belt can make a ticking sound.you don`t say how many miles are on the car or if you have changed the timing belt.if the mileage is over 100,000 kil(60,000 miles) then it should be changed.

I have 2000 , nissan quest SE with 87,000 miles according with the manual I should change the timing bell when I reach 105,000 miles- but some mechanic told me I must change right away I am confused?...

He may know something you don't I change the belts every 35 thousand miles it is cheeper for replaceing the belt than it is to do a valve job. Ask the mechanic why he thinks it should be changed and have him show you the reason why, don't be afraid to ask it's your money your spending so ask.

When should timing chain be replaced on nissan 350z

It is a timing chain, and 100,000 miles is a good time to change it.

Timing belts

You need to change the timing belt at every 100,000 interval. I too own a 1999 S40 I still have 20,000km's to go however I would suggest you don't wait the 100,000, break downs are a drag. MCM
