Go on youtube and you will find a video of the whole job of replacing the chain, you do need to know what engine you have, there are three options for that.

2000 V6 engine Ford Taurus. When the chain breaks, how much damage does it cause?

The 3.0L Vulcan engine in the 2006 Ford Taurus is a non-interference engine. Thus, when the timing chain breaks, there will be no piston or valve damage as a result of the cam and crankshaft getting out of synchronization. The "steam" you see is probably some combustion gases coming back up through the intake from any open valves that were trying to fire after the chain. broke. That isn't saying that there cannot be damage....you must look inside the timing chain area. There is the possibility (albeit remote) that there could be some damage in that area, more likely if you have a manual transmission. But you probably will only have to replace the timing set and chain tensioner to get it back up and going. Plus a few gaskets and some fluids of course.

97 ford exporer timing issue

There are three engines used in a 97 model. The 4.0 single overhead cam V6 engine uses a timing chain in the front and in the rear, one for each cam. The left side is in the front and the right side is in the back. You would have to take the engine out to access the rear chain.
The 4.0 overhead valve engine and the V8 engine only have one chain in the front.

Need tiing diagram for 2005 5.4l engine

If your talking about the cam timing, then it's a bit complicated. There are two timing chains and the marks depend on having chains with different colored links to line them all up.

The crankshaft should be where the key way is at about the 270 degree mark and the crank gear with the timing mark is at the bottom. the D/S chain goes on first and there should be a machined notch that will be "up". the raised line will be down. The chain goes on with the SINGLE colored link at the crank mark and the notch between the TWO links. The P/S chain goes the same way but the cam gear only has the one notch on it. How do i set timing on 2000 dodge intrepid, i had to put water pump on now i need the timing set,

i number 1piston which is the front one on the passenger side has to be all the way up and then 60 degrees past that, there is a mark on the crank that matches up with an arrow on the oil pump housing, the driver side cam sprocket has an arrow on it, and the passenger side cam sprocket has a hole in it which is its timing mark, on the chain there are 4 gold link, a single gold link goes on the crank timing mark, a single gold link goes on the passenger cam sprocket timing mark, and the double gold links match up with the driver side cam sprocket timing mark
