That car was available with 2 different transmissions.1 is the CD4E.That trans, the filter is only accessable if rebuilding the trans. You literally have to tear down the trans to get to the filter,so just drain and refill that one on a service. The other trans it could have is the GF4AEL,and that one has two pans. The filter is located in the bottom pan.Good luck.

For 1996 Mazda 626 2.5L MFI DOHC 6cyl the Fuel Filter is located under hood, driver side, engine side of strut tower, below air filter housing, mounted in fuel line.

Hope helps (remember rated this).

I need to know where the fuel filter is located on a 1999 Mazda 626

The fuel filter is attached to a bracket located in the left rear of the engine compartment. Look down in the space between the master cylinder fluid reservoir and the rear of the air filter compartment, you will be looking at the top of the fuel filter cannister. It's very hard to get at.

My mazda 626 Lx Transmission is slipping could it be the filter or what ?

Best thing to do is take it to a DEALER...not a transmission shop and have the fluid and filter changed. It will cost you about 200 bucks and they wont be so quick to tell you that a complete overhaul is needed.

Put about a cup of LUCAS transmission treatment in it after this is done. Great stuff to help the bands and smooth out shifting.

If this doesn't work you will likely need an overhaul if you are going to keep the car.
All this assuming your fluid level is not too high or too low, both of which can cause slippage.

I have a Mazda 626 LX 4cly 1999 the hose that runs around the right side of the airfilter. what type of hose is it and what does it control?

It has to do with the venting of the transmission. It connects to a plastic container right below the front of the air filter and clips around the right side of the filter box.
