Passat 2001 (new shape) 2.0 deisel. -9 c with hard and soft snow and slush on ground. It has been like this for a week bt never below -4c. Today at -9 c car started great as usual but felt a grinding s drove slowley down hill and after 400 meters after all the warning sounds and displays "Parking Brake Fault", "ABS Fault" and the skid symbol plus consult manual and go to garage. Help!!!! can anyone?

Parking brake could be engage or bad switch... Abs module fault cause by Change brake fluid every two years regardless of mileage. Inspect brake pads. @ that temperaure bellow expect a lot to malfunction. Abs sensor could've fail, read slipping wheels that created because out of range spinnings interval or speed due to icy or slippery road.

On the old Volkswagen Passat B5 (MY 1997-2001) the Data Link Connector (DLC) or diagnostic port is placed on the right side of the parking brake lever, under a small rectangle rubber cover. See pictures below:

Engine seems to be burning oil. escort van 1.8 d year Y 2001 used 2.5 litres of oil within 3,000 miles no leaks showing and co is correct as just passed mot less than a week ago.

You should have the compression checked to see if the cylinders are in good shape. When a deisel starts to use oil, it burns it as it would fuel. The mot test is o/k because your emission system is working well. Hope this helps.Moe
