Still don't how to check coolant temp sensor or even which one the ecm uses for the code 21there are two sensors it, one with one wire conector or two. also not sure why mechanic's were different discription's for codes 21 & 24.
where is the vss & how to check? Thank's bill
the (ECT)coolant temp sensor have two wire and you can test it by (AVO meter) the two wire :-
the 1st is ground from ECM
the 2nd is have 5 volt whine disconnect the connector
of (ECT) and less then whine connected the (ECT)
the (ECT)was electronic thermo resistor
the one wire sensor work to coolant temp gage in dashboard
the (VSS) locate in trans axle it was electromagnetic sensor send signal to determine the distance in (KILOMETER)
with my best wishes

The reference values given below are measured between ECM terminal 72 and ground...
When measuring input / output voltage be careful not to use ECM ground terminals. The ECM will enter fail safe mode once a malfunction is detected and the MI will light up.
Usually, P0118 is indicative of a bad temperature sensor, but doesn't rule out these other possibilities. If you're unsure of how to diagnose a PCM, do not attempt.
