Is the system charged properly? A/C systems have low and high pressure cut off switches so not to damage the compressor so if it was undercharged or overcharged the compressor won't cut on. Other than that I would check fuses or the switch for the A/C

I was told by A/C guy I have a short somewhere to the high pressure switch. something is not kicking on the compressor. another mechanic said I need a new computer. what do you think

go with the ac guy
there are systems that prevent the ac compressor working
high pressure switch which cuts the ac clutch if the head pressure goes too high
low pressure switch which cuts power to the ac compressor if there
is no gas in the system
climate control systems which cut power when the ac is not required
fuses to the ac system
get a better explanation or seek advice from other ac mechanics

Why my Suzuki sx4 ac compressor not working?

manual A/C system or the fully auto system? option?

lots and lots of reasons, i can list them all , im the electric guy.
08 SX4 , (USA spec car)
answer 1: get it serviced? not an options? do say? we cant guess
what your question is, why, ? see #1 below for users DIY.
so is the compressor dead , on engine.

  1. a/c fuses blown to any A/C device, includes blower, in heater.
  2. A/C relays bad.
  3. High/low pressure switch tripped open (loop issues (Freon(tm)
  4. AC amp (logic box) sees errors, on any of 6 inputs.
  5. they all worked before, all cars, but not now for cause.
now the step 4 elaborations..
the AMP cuts the compressor fan and clutch for many reasons,
most not for your cause. but is important all.
why,. because those wires there can fail, or even fall off.
on the 2008 the AMP is now BCM/PCM/HVAC control module
the first step is after fuse checking is the do a full OBD2 one
SCAN on the PCM port. see if there are DTC errors. (do that now)
logic fails. BCM controls the front fan (cond) or PCM does on manual AC option.
  • blower voltage dead. (Blow logic failed)
  • engine overheated (or sensor lies) "wires fell off?"
  • engine overloaded, a/c cuts at crank, and wide open throttle.
  • hi/lo switch cuts out, protecting loop from DAMAGE.
  • lots of sensors can fail here, scan it?
  • outside air temp, too cold to run A/C? (auto system)
  • evap core icing up sensor, shows too cold, near 32f.
  • The manual system uses PCM to operated the 2 main AC relays as a slave to the AC brain box. but is BCM on fancy auto system.
  • not scanning the PCM/BCM now, you will FAIL.
The manual system is below. seen in the FSM book.
the tests are easy do you want me to gue$$ or TEST.

My heater and air conditioner shut on and off

The air conditioner is controlled by in cab air temperature so if the air temp is low then the ac compressor clutch will cycle as the thermostat switches it on or off. If you want it to work all the time you may have to run the heat as well so that the thermostat is fooled into thinking that the air temp is hot.. Have the system checked out by an auto electrician

Car idles down when you turn defrost on

Check that you car is not climate control as this will turn on the ac compressor as well as the heater to give you controlled temp in the car. If that is the case the idle speed sensor and ambient sensors in the cpu may not be doing the job as the engine speed should increase to compensate for the extra load of the compressor. Have a fault code reading done.

Can i put an ac in my 94 toyota pickup that doesn't have ac, Also where is it installed

to install a/c on a none a/c car it is cost there is a different heater core box, vent tubes to dash etc, wiring and heater control head with switches.and cutting of the firewall so the hoses can enter the passenger compartment.motor brackets to mount the compressor and routing of a/c hoses.your better to use the 260 a/c that you already have(2 windows down 60mph).

Ac compressor not switching on 1986 Peugeot 505.GTI How can I test clutch wiring,. Have just aquired this car , heater blowers etc. working but ac clutch not cutting in, is there a switch I have not found....

The best thing to do first is to check the AC clutch itself if it's working, locate the air - con compressor and you will see a wire coming out from the front top of the AC-compressor, it has a connection, remove tht connection and take a piece of wire, connect it to the wire frm the AC-compressor and the other end of the wire to the battery positive terminal,by doing so you will hear a clicking sound of the clutch at the AC-compressor, better still is to start the car's engine, switch 'ON' the AC as normal, let the blower blow thn connect tht wire frm the AC-compressor to the positive side of the battery terminal and check it out if the AC-compressor rotates and also you may get in the car and see if its blowing cold air.
Please also check this -->
HEAT/COLD selector (on the dash) is not selected at HEAT...if it is thn the AC-compresor clutch will not kick in!
Hope this helps!

If the AC compressor was working full time including when the heat was on in the winter, this would certainly cut short the life span of the compressor. Usually, the compressor won't come on unless climate control is calling for AC. If this was the case, the issue is more likely the climate control itself, either a sensor or the whole unit. Should have been caught when you had it diagnosed in the winter if this was when you had it in the shop. Hope this answers your question. Best of luck.

No cold air when A/C on but climate control works in controlling heat

the first check to perform is to see if the compressor is cutting on.... you should be able to hear the engine struggle a bit when the ac is first cut on, or watch the clutch (built into the compressor pulley) begin to spin when the AC is switched on. If it does cut on, likely causes include refrigerant leak or internal system failure. If the compressor is not cutting on, it is a control issue, and some electrical tests must be performed.

No heat - ac stays on blowing through defrost vents

If you have the heater directed to the windshield, the AC will turn on. Move the control away from defrost.
