Put some Amsoil 75-90 synthetic gear oil in it and it will quiet it down a lot and make it last a long time.

the Ridgeline is powered by a transversely mounted J35A9, (2006-2008) J35Z5, (2009-present) 3.5 L V6 with a five speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel drive system operates in front-wheel drive mode under normal conditions and automatically transfers power to either rear wheel via a locking differential when it senses a loss of traction in the front. The VTM-4 system can be locked in first, second or reverse gears at speeds under 18 mph (29 km/h).
The VTM-4 lock (rear diff lock) works in full rear power mode up until 6 mph (9.7 km/h) then it gradually transitions to power to the front and releases the VTM-4 lock at 18 mph (29 km/h)

Rear differential

If the rear end has a wine after a rebuild it is more than likely set up (shimmed) incorrectly. Take to a reputable mechanic who specializes in rear differentials. Some new gears will whine regardless of shim, but should be somewhat quieter than a bad rear end. If the gear pattern is correct look to the outer axel bearings.

I purchased a brand mew Mercedes 200 E class in mid 2008 and have covered 92000 km todate, lately I the car has a humming noise from the rear axil and Ipoh Motor has informed me that there is no warran

We have seen a few e200's with noisy diff centers it only seems to be on the 200's for some reason , there is two options, one ask you dealer to contact Mercedes and request special assistance on the cost of replacing the diff as the vehicle is only four years old, second option is to have it removed and send it away to a diff shop and have the bearings replaced as that is what normaly causes the noise.

Hi, I have a volvo 740 made in belgium 1991 model. The speedomete spent a few months fluctuating wildly, sometimes working well, sometimes not at all, sometimes stuck on 140 km per hour. The odometer...

There should be a speedo sensor on the transmission somewhere. I don't know exactly where it is located. I believe your speedo is all electrical so the sensor on the transmission sends a signal to the speedo head. You can go onto some parts stores websites and see if one is listed for it, if it is, I would try replacing that first. I don't think the part should be more then $50 or $60 but you never know with Volvo. Good luck.

Grinding noise coming from front of car got told it was because there is no oil in diff? car is an auto are you meant to top up oil through the speedo drive ? did not think front wheel drives had a diff

The differential is in the transmission, just inside where your axles go into the transmission housing. It shares the oil with the rest of the transmission. I would get a second opinion.

Rear diff fluid is a milky color and it whines while driving

Sounds like there is water getting into the diff. Most of the time it is from the vent on the top. That will cause damage to the bearings and make noise.
