make sure you are using the proper grade of fuel. If the car pings when you are accelerating, you may need to have the timing checked as well.

I would check the ignition timing. You might try running higher octane gas.

Likely blown fusible link, or you have interrupted circuit to the ignition switch or tripped security system. Best bet is blown fusible link.

Starts when cold

Sounds like a bad ignition system, if its firing poorly through your distributor once it warms up its not firing hot enough.

I can't read the obd plug from my VW passat 3B2 by 1999. I need to know what volts i'm supposed to read in the plug from 1 to 16. I already found that I had an aftermarket radio but still no connection...?...

Two of the wires in the plug should have battery voltage, one when the ignition key is turned to run or accessory position (radio B+ power) and one is hot all the time (keep alive B+ memory power)

When I turn my car off the air conditioner still runs-I needed a jump the other day because it ran all night and wore the battery down.

OK, if the relay for the A/C fan is bad, then the radiator's fan will keep running after turning off the ignition. Also, if the fan for ventilation of the A/C in the cabin stays on after the ignition is turned off, the relay for that is bad.

Good luck on this repair.

Ignition system sounds probable on vhicle when everything gets warmed up. High pitched hum could be bad tire or worse bearing.

You don't have the proper key. The flip key assembly has a chip in it that lets the car keep running. Use old key assembly. To test put the old ket fob next to the ignition switch and see if it keeps running,

1985 fordf-150 inline6 wont shut off

if it seems to be stumbling when you turn it off but keeps running then you likely have carbon buildup on the valves, pistons or plugs .. the carbon stays hot and keeps the engine running even without spark .. usually if you hit the gas once it cools the hot carbon and the engine quits .. i suspect your f150 is never run fast .. a romp in passing/second gear once in a while usually keeps it clean .. there is special cleaner you can run thru to clean out the carbon .. you can get that an any auto parts store .. make sure the plugs are the correct heat range .. plugs that are designed for oil burning engines stay cleaner but may be too hot .. that can cause the same problem ..

now if your engine runs on smoothly with the key off then i would suspect a problem with the ignition switch or wiring

Replace the relay. Look in your owners manual for the location of the relay panel.... should be under the hood near driver's side.
