Hi to all, I have a 2007 Ford Focus 2.O L manual transmission, 3 door hatchback, and it is having electrical problems causing it to shut off dead. This car ONLY has 12,000 miles on it. Good thing is that I am leasing it for three years and the lease is about up. I was thinking about purchasing, but now I will NOT purchase this car. I will not ever buy a FORD or lease a FORD again, which at this point does stand for F.ound O.n R.oad D.ead, or F.ix O.r R.epair D.aily! This is ridiculous, this is a NEW ford focus with ONLY 12K miles, and this car is already breaking down!!!!! This car is NEW and well kept!!!!! I think the problem is going to be the alternator, it is currently being towed to the Ford dealership.

How's the alternator? The battery light will come on if the alternator isn't charging properly or at all. If you don't have a alternator gauge, a local auto parts store will usually check your alternator free of "charge"
(this damages the ecu Disconnected negative terminal and car still ran) check and clean the alternator connections. and check the earths. light can come on if water has gotten into the alternator or the connection has come loose. you don't disconnect the battery when the engine is running as it can shock the ecu alternators have a built in voltage stabilizer but this only works with feed back from the battery no feed back it can convert ac instead of dc and blow up the ecu. it also damage other parts.
Battery light on ! alternator isn't charging . Test the alternator electrical circuits .Main cable on the back of the alt. should have B+ voltage .Pin # 3 at the connector on the alt. should have B + voltage - fuse F10 10amp under hood fuse box supply's B+ to pin #3 . Pin's 1 & 2 at the connector go to the PCM - engine computer . This is a computer controlled charging system . Ford PCM controlled alternator testing
When the car dies was the battery dead? If so you have a problem in the computer controlled alternator charging system. What that might be will require a trained Ford technician to diagnose the problem and repair the issue..
The battery most likely has dead cells and not charging due to the alternator .The alternator is doing what it should, your battery just can't hold the charge the alternator is putting out. Go have the battery tested at a local auto zone or advance auto store. Free to check
Sounds to me that your battery has shorted out and will not take a charge.Disconnect the battery and try to charge it, then check to see if it has taken power with a volt meter. A shorted battery will take all the power from the alternator and run it to ground leaving no power to run the car. Also check the alternator output with a volt meter after you have checked the battery as a shorted battery can burn out the alternator.
hi, might wanna check the atternator ,check the belt make sure it still on .over time they get old and loose. if still on you could do a test, while the car is on diconnect the ground wire off, if the car stays on the atternator is good. if the cars turns off , you got a bad att. thanks hope been some help
take it to a dealer or a local shop because it sounds like you have a wiring problem. Try this first, start the car and remove the positive battery cable and if the car dies it is your alternator or a wiring problem, if it does not die that it is more that likely your battery. take your battery into advance auto parts or auto zone and have your battery tested. i would do the same with my alternator also.(Just to be safe)
