Nissan Micra Wave M-reg problems

My Nissan Micra started having problems a few months ago. It's been into the garage a few times, and has been fully serviced, and the problem still persists. Basically it 'kangaroos' sometimes, and loses power for a few seconds, possibly as if not enough fuel is getting through. I have had the petrol pump replaced and the battery and belt for the alternator. Mr brother suggested putting in some 'Redex' as he thought it may be 'sticky valves' with it being unleaded fuel. This seemed to help a little, and I put some Redex in each tankfull now. The kangarooing and loss of power happen on a completely random basis, not in any specific circumstances. It can be fine for days, then have a few days of playing up. It does it more on long journeys. The problem sometimes seems to be associated with changing demand on the accelerator, eg it can play up after driving along smoothly for a while and then being stuck in a traffic queue, or after going round a sharp bend or over a humpy bridge it then can play up when setting off onto a smoother stretch of road. But as I said, this is all very random, it doesn't play up every time in those situations. Also sometimes the car stalls just after starting up in the morning (it starts fine) or can stall sometimes if waiting in traffic for a few minutes. Please help as my garage seem at a loss and I can't afford endless trips to the garage on the off-chance they can find what's wrong. Thank you!

I am having the exact same problem with my 1992 Nissan Maxima, very frustrating. I hope someone has a solution.

    Thanks

    answer to Rodney Long:

my Micra is a 1994 year. I don't know if it has fuel injectors or not, I don't think so as it's only a 998cc engine and doesn't have an 'i' in its name, which they usually seem to have if they're injection (sorry to sound ignorant on that). I'm not sure what you mean by having it on a 'dyno', but the garage have had it running constantly for 2 to 3 hours and it didn't stall or 'choke' once apparently. Someone else has suggested a hole in the carboretter - what do you think?

I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima that just started doing the same thing. I am a girl so don't know if fuel injected or not...sorry. But randomly engine stalls mostly while in "drive". Also starting up sometimes stalls. Most notably in this COLD weather we are having in the PA area. Thanks for any help!!

Sounds like fuel injector problems. you didnt say what yar though. let me know what year and if it has fuel injectors. Also to be sure and to stop just replacing parts and hoping for the right one to be put on you may have to have it put on a dyno and have it checked out... thats what i would do. 150.00 dollars may save you thousands in the long run. Let me kknow MrrodneyLong@gmail.com

How do i reset my nissan maxima 2003 alarm?

Heat Shield is loose - it's flopping around. Sounds like an engine issue, but it's not.

I had the same problem on a '93 Altima & again on my 2003 Maxima a few months ago. A local garage fixed it for free both times. For the Altima, he just removed the shield. He advised that I do not park on high, dry grass as contact with the grass might start a fire (around here, cars are usually on pavement all the time - the grass thing was not an issue - and, there were no fires). On the 2003 Maxima, the garage was able to replace the rusted out clamp using some scrap material they had lying around. The heat shield was resecured into position. No more pinging.

I had Nissan take a look at the 2003 Maxima repair afterwards. They said the garage did a nice job.

I have not used my nissan micra 2003 for 7 months it has been stored in the garage but the engine has been started on a weekly basis but today the warning engine light has come on, the car has only done 2300 miles, SHOULD I BE WORRIED or is it because the battery has been disconnected in between starting the engine so it didnt drain the battery while it was standing in the garage unused, this has happened the day before i take it for a mot.....
