I think it's a security problem. When I'm driving, the security starts blinking. I think it's because my husband would pull out the key once he started the car. He thought it was a feature on the car, I told him I dont know so. Now my car won't start at all. I think the security needs to be restarted.

You should be able to do a key relearn. Try to start the truck and leave the key in the ON position until the security light goes out. Should take 10 minutes. When the light goes out turn the key off then back on and wait for the security light to go out again. When it does turn the key off then back on and let the security light go out once again. After this time turn the key off and when you turn it back on the security light should go out and it should be ready to start.
Put the key ignition to the ON switch for 15 minutes, when the light start blinking (or a beep sound goes on), turn the key to OFF, remove the key (you have to remove it) then start the car again. If it doesn't work, do the whole process for 30 minutes wait instead of 15 minutes. Good luck, there are video also for bypassing the passlock security in youtube.
Yes it is. To reset the security, you will have to turn the key on (don't try to start). Let it set on for ten minutes, Turn it off, (don't pull the key out). Do this procedure three times, after the third time start the car. You might want to put a battery charger on it as the lights will drain the battery. If you mess up, you will have to start over.

there is a tool that you can use to short the connection to put the computer in read mode.and you have to count blinks like one blink then pause five blinks.that would be a code 15 then you have to look up what code would be.it ends with a 59 or 34 if my memory serves .
This is crazy but it works. When the security light is blinking and the motor will not start. The car thinks it is being stolen. Turn your key to the on position for 10 minutes without trying to start the car. Do nothing untill the security light stops blinking it will stop at the 10 minute mark. Then turn the key off for 5 seconds ,on for 5 seconds off for 5 seconds ,Then like magic start your car. When this stops working you have to replace the key module. Hope this helps.
Looks like the TDM/BCM in the security system (VATS/PassKey) is having problems, it's typical on those cars and it can get worse till the car wont start anymore. You can find a great write-up here: http://newrockies.ca , it was the only thing that saved my Park Avenue.
That toggle switch is for the security system. That year miata never came with any switches for the soft top of any kind. Most likely that is an aftermarket alarm system. Most factory alarm systems do not come with a toggle switch.
Check lights, etc, check battery grounding. If that turns up nothing, your husband just may be right! You also need to check power at small wire connection on starter with key turned to start position . There should be 12v at large connection and 12v with key turned at small one! If there is power at small lead, starter may be bad.
