Are you sure you got the filter back into the hole tight it sounds like its leaking. also are you sure you used the right trans fluid some models require type 111 trans fluid instead of dextron mercron. double check these things its also a good idea to adjust the bands when you service the transmission. was there a lot of metal or black stuff in the pan. this shows a lot of wear in the transmission. and the need for a band adjustment.

Transmission slipping in 95 blazer

You could try a transm. drain and refill and replace the fluid filter while doing so. When you drop the transmission pan (after draining), check for how much metal shavings are in the pan. There should be a magnet on the pan to collect shavings. If it doesn't look like too much, you could proceed with the filter change, then replace gasket for pan and put pan back on, and refill transm. and try it. Sometimes a fluid and filter helps, sometimes not if damage is too severe.

Transmission slips after engine warms up

It isn't when the engine gets hot, it is when the transmission fluid gets hot that the slipping starts, due to wear of the clutches and gears inside the transmission.
First, check the fluid level to make sure it is full. If it is low, bring fluid level to full and see if that helps.
About all the owner can do with slipping automatics is trying a transmission fluid and filter change to see if transmission revives and stops slipping. The bottom pan is removed, fluid (about 6-8 quarts) is drained, and a new filter is installed before the pan is replaced with a new gasket, sealed up, and fresh fluid added. Sometimes it helps. Sometimes the transmission is worn too bad to help, and you are left with looking for a replacement transmission.
Check the fluid level first. Good luck.

Roar on acceleration from stop, once it makes the first shift, seems to be fine. Possibly low on fluid? Is this transmission serviceable?

Yes the transmission is serviceable. Let the engine warm up and then check your fluid level. If the fluid is dark, smells burnt, or feels gritty you should change the fluid and filter. Sounds like a clogged filter making first gear slip. Watch your tach and see if it revs high on take off this will show if you are slipping in first gear.

Slipping transmission.

The friction plates maybe well worn and need replaced. Torque converter may be failing. Automatic transmissions can and will wear out in time. 14 years is alot for any vehicle.

Transmission is slipping getting into gear. It

How many miles? Ever had your transmission serviced? The cheapest way to determine if you need to have your trany replaced is to change the fluid and filter. Also add a quart of good transmission additive. You may want to try the no-slip additive first. Either way it will cost you about $80 if you do your own work.
